Hi everyone, here's a little video on doing leather covered snaps as something a bit different to try. Sorry there hasn't been many videos recently, I'm getting to them as and when I can (I have various half finished ones in the works). Next one out will probably be the next build along in June.

Glad to see you posting again. I learned to do this from Peter Main last summer. He had a handy extra trick. A Starbucks Coffee stirring stick works perfect to insert in the tube of the cap and serve as an excellent handle during gluing and folding. Thanks for this one.

Always great to see a new Ian Atkinson video! I'm impressed at how clean you kept the glue off the finished side of the leather on that small snap. I would have glue fingerprints all over it. I'll have to try this. Thanks Ian.

G'day Ian! Good to see you making videos again. I hope you are on the mend. Never even thought to cover the snaps with the same leather to blend them in... I've got plain chrome snaps that I haven't used... good vid!

I need a pattern for a pouch slightly bigger than this but maybe with a small buckle. Do you have one??
@Leodis.Leather6 жыл бұрын
you can easily work that out, as you can see from the video it's just a long rectangle

I’ve had issues with snaps in wallets discolouring the leather on the opposite side of the wallet when the wallet is closed. Has anyone else experienced this? This leather cover could help. I’d really wanted to find some snaps with a totally flat top so I could sandwich then between two layers of leather but i’ve been unable to find any.

Hello Ian and Greetings from the Great White North. Thanks for this thorough video on leather snaps. I always wondered how they were done. Nice Job on explaining the process. I especially like the cameo appearance of the curious spider at the left of the screen. Did you see it during the editing process? Nice Surprise. Take Care.
@Leodis.Leather6 жыл бұрын
I didn’t see a spider no! Not sure where you mean
@Leodis.Leather6 жыл бұрын
I flicked back through to find it, it appears at 12:16 ... no I didn't see that when I was editing the video or at the time (my eyesight is bad now) but at least it wasn't a big scary one :)
@jean-marclabonte28446 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I saw it and thought the spider was trying to a free lesson from you. Cheers.

Glad to see you're back. Have been wondering how you were doing. Have also been referring a lot of people on Facebook to your videos. You and Nigel are my go-to experts when people ask for how to advice. Will be looking forward to the new videos. Meanwhile, I'm sorry to hear about the health and sight problems. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
