I just finished the project, and as suggested I used the 7 - 8 oz Veg tan, I was VERY hard to work with the hard leather and cut the shape. Also I found the straps too be way too long and I had to several times cut them shorter and keep on adjusting and doing edges. Also could not find any use for the camera strap. The item looks good, but I found it way harder then it looked. (Maybe because of the thick leather) I also found the leather too thick for the O ring and hardware and had to again adjust holes to wrap around better. I am sure with time it will become softer. PS I also battled with the stretching of the leather to get the belts through the strap holders. I would suggest cutting the belts a little narrower with a belt cutter. I would also do bevel the edges before dying, as this was just too much work to colour again afterwards.

Just love the way you show your tanning process 👍👍

Dyeing process. The pale leather is already vegetable tanned. But yes, it's awesome getting to watch the colors emerge.

OMG, I asked on a reddit forum the other day if anyone had a camera harness as I see them. On Pintrest a lot. So happy to see this pattern. Will go great with my roll top bag I made of yours on some of my treks. 😍😊😁

Do you have a 4 strap pattern! None of my pants "jeans" have a center loop.

Nice. The hardware is too rugged, but the idea is good. I made is suspender several years ago for myself when I was not making for sale anything, just watching a picture, but I changed a little bit and used high-quality Japanese hardware. I use it sometimes and another bought from Zara shop and it was made with leather, but not edge finished. Recently I made a Camera strap just like the strap of the Camera bag(CULLMANN) and my camera strap is made of high-quality leather and accessories because I know now proper leathercraft.

First of all, I like this pattern. The ability too attach various things is always a good idea. However, you suggest 7 - 8 oz leather. It doesn’t look like 7-8 oz leather in the video. Looks more like 4-5 oz. Can you clarify?
@CreativeAwl3 жыл бұрын
Yes, as a prototype used here 5-6oz, Suggest to use a 7-8

Thank you for your response. Keep up the good work.

@@CreativeAwl 7-8 is too thick for the ends to wrap around the diameter of the D rings and the O ring, using the holes in the pattern. At least with American hardware store pieces. I'm having to re-make the Y and the small strap on the back piece.

Why not bevel bevel before dyeing?

Possibly to give more contrast on the edges?

What size buttonhole punch do you use? It doesn't say on the pattern.
