Amazing, isn't it, what some people can actively decide to dislike? I only found Tony's channel a couple of days ago, but I've already recognized that he's one of the best teachers, hands down, I've ever run across in a long life. He could teach teachers how to be teachers.

I can’t imagine getting my patterns from anywhere else. I look at the first bag that I made and I cringe. I was so proud of it. There’s no comparison to the items I make now and the thing that’s made the difference is the stitching. It’s much better now. Even for someone with visual difficulties like I have, Tony’s patterns are a delight to work with.

I used Adobe, but no matter what I do I cannot get the pattern to print and keep the second page of the pattern on the page. The top of the biggest prints right on the holes. I cannot no matter what I do get it to print the whole pattern without shrinking the 5cm square to 4.8. Can anyone help me?

Tony... one thing you forgot. If your edges are not straight, your stitch line wont be straight. So its important to make sure to cut evenly for straight edges. Another set of helpful tools, if people don't have the ones you mentioned, are a corked back metal ruler and scratch awl. This can help align the stitching line. 😉👍

I always see warnings about things you can *only do* if you're using veg-tan, but no KZbinrs ever seem to say anything about chrome-tan. That's pretty much all I have access to right now, is there a good way to shape chrome-tan leather for bag gussets and such? That's my next project, but the leather I have is shockingly rigid, so I haven't been game to mess around with it too much.
@eb9914 жыл бұрын
I do the same water technique Tony does with VegTan and it works well, mind, not perfect but it’s doable ! Never a problem with re-tan ( I.E. Latigo) either, actually works great with Latigo, just watch for color transfer when wet!

I bought a shoe pattern (in a local shop) and was left with just text instructions, it was awful! Sooo decided I should look into your patterns instead. I then proceeded to make this bag while ignoring most of the instructions ;) I don't care about making it perfect and some things may be different, but some of these things do not communicate well in text.

Going to try this using chisel prongs and hand stitching, should be OK, since ill be using 6mm or 3mm spacing and tiger thread. Probability add some shoulder straps and have my daughter or wife use it. If i have to make more, no problema, printing out the templates using 11x8.5 avery labels, sticking them on poster board, and bingo, instant templates. Maybe and idea for some people..good luck

I recently ordered some veg tanned leather, and it wasnt quite what I expected. It's very stiff and smooth/glossy. I made a plague doctor mask with leather I got off of Amazon, and it was very soft and pliable, also it was a matte black color. Would you consider doing a video on different types of leather? Because I would like to order a bulk amount of that soft leather but I dont know how to find it. All I can see from the description on Amazon is "genuine leather". Loved the video, and the bag you made looks solid, I hope you keep up the good work!
@MrSqu1nty4 жыл бұрын
As a note, "genuine leather" is the lowest grade. I'm not saying don't buy it. I don't have your wallet. But just don't expect it to be the best, it will take a little more work to turn out nice, or maybe not that good looking. Voice of expensive experience. Consider it practice for the Horween side you use one day, and good luck!
@michaelrodriguez62104 жыл бұрын
@@MrSqu1nty I understand, but for masks this kind of leather worked better than this oak veg tan that I recently bought. Good for hats and bags, not so great for masks. And the softer kind I'm thinking of actually cost me more at $60 for 4ft² of material.
