Thank you. I tried to keep the process quick and easy so people can batch build them for their armies but still get a good looking result. If you wanted to take them a step further, you could introduce some purples into the shadows or vary the red wash to add some more variation and interest. Hopefully this will get people started and they can play around and find their own recipes :)

Yes, the carroburg crimson was applied all over the rock and not just the side. Sorry, having watched it back I can see it wasn't very clear. Hope that helps, thanks for watching

Couple of questions. Do you dilute the paint that you use for dry brushing ? Why do you undercoat with black and then grey rather than just grey ? Thanks in advance 😊

No, I didn’t dilute any paint before drybrushing. As for why I prime with black and then grey. I do this with all my minis, because I prime large batches of things at once, often long before I’ve decided how I’m going to paint them. Sometimes I like to glaze over a zenithal prime as it give great contrast. Other times I paint in solid base coats and shade after. Sometimes a bit of both. Doing the zenithal prime of grey over black means I have the option to do whichever when I actually come to paint the mini

What kind of glue do you use to attach the miniature to the base? Normally I put my miniatures on the base with the citadel plastic glue, but I can't imagine it works when trying to glue it to the slate piece that has been painted. Do you just use super glue?

Brilliant question So, the answer is, if you make and paint your bases separately like this, you can’t just glue your minis on top of the paint. You are far better pinning them. This involves drilling a small hole in both the base and the mini and then supergluing a short metal rod between the two to hold it all together. It may sound a lot of extra effort but it’s really not and it gives a much better result than painting the mini attached to the base. Thank you To attach your models you should pin them for sure. I tend to position my mini and drill the holes before painting, so I can be sure positioning later. Of course use what you have available, I appreciate slate pieces arent easy to get hold of everywhere. Personally though, I’m not a fan of cork board, as I don’t really think it looks like rock. But it just a personal opinion. In terms of would it paint up the same as the slate piece in the video? Yes, absolutely 👍

Thanks for watching No, I wouldn’t recommend just supergluing the mini as it’s likely to just peel away the paint and not actually bond. The best approach is to pin the mini to the base

yes, it's a type of stone. It's a common decorative stone for gardening in the UK and you can buy huge bags of slate chippings for a few pounds. I must admit, I've never considered how easy it is to get elsewhere in the world. Perhaps you can try local garden centres and look for decorative stone chippings for flower beds. You're after this sort of thing bit.ly/42sRvSf It's a light weight, soft stone. So it means big bits are easy to break into smaller bits for basing and modelling Hope that helps
