Quick tip- While the gravy base is in the fridge, Place your meatloaf into a 13 by 9 inch baking pan covered with aluminum foil. Heat your oven until it is warm. Once the oven is warm, turn oven off and add the pan in the oven. Heat up your oven every 30 minutes. This will keep the meatloaf warm during the entire process of making the gravy! Hope this helps! :)

Hi Charlie. I know you don't remember me. I watched your video where you made Southern green beans. It had potatoes, bacon, sausage and lots of seasonings in it. I asked you where the recipe was and you showed me a link with all the ingredients in it and how to make it. I want you to know I made it for today's Sunday dinner. It was the absolute bomb. My two girls call every excellent dish a bomb. Its a big compliment. My small family loved it so much, they kept tasting it before dinner was served. I barely had anything left to put on the table. I also had read other recipes with the same name and I told you that one cook added sugar to the meal. I had no desire to eat sweet green beans. When I came to your recipe, it had no sugar in it. That's why I tried it. I got bombarded with compliments. WOW what a delicious meal that was. Thank you so very much for posting that meal. I'm now checking out your meatloaf with mashed potatoes, brown gravy and peas. But I have to ask you again. Where can I find the whole recipe written down. I can not find it. Please can I have the website where everything is written down. I very much want to print it. Thank you so much. Be safe and be healthy.

@@CharlieTheCookAndrews Thank you Charlie. Unfortunately I can not get the one seasoning by Paul chicken magic here. I hope your recipe will still taste very good without that one seasoning in it. It will have to, because I'm not ordering one seasoning on line. You won't believe the charge for S/H. Since I'm German, I order my German bauern brot ( Farmers Bread ) online. Of course I ordered a few other items with it. My whole order came to 75.00 dollars and The S/H came to 80.00 dollars. I complained bitterly about that. It didn't do me any good. I wanted my German bread badly, so I ordered all the items. I live on a very limited Social Security income and that price I actually couldn't afford. Maybe with colder season coming, the S/H will be lowered. Otherwise I have to go without my German bread. I been living in Texas for some rime now, but I do not like American bread. To me it has no substance to it. Its like biting into foam and it sticks to the roof of my mouth. I actually have thought about baking my own German bread, but when it comes having to bake with yeast, forget it. I will mess it up every time. I have watched German farmers bake that bread. You always have to let the dough sit in a warm place, so it can rise. Well its mostly always hot in Texas. If I would set the dough by my Bay window, it would rise unbelievable high. Believe me I tried it and ended up throwing it into the trash. I tried other methods, but anything that has yeast in it I'm a dud. It cost to much for just trying and dumping it into the trash. I tried other meals, but the results were so bad, my dog wouldn't eat it. So I finally gave up. Otherwise I'm a pretty good cook. I always get praises from my family and friends that were invited. My husband was my best supporter. Always bragging to his friends about my cooking. It made me feel proud that he enjoyed my way of cooking. But I refuse to make anything with yeast in it. Thank you again for providing me with the complete recipe. Wished you would automatically added to your cooking show at the end.

The basting is an interesting step. My mother never did that. Her meatloaf could be somewhat dry. I've known southern moms who swore by topping with tomato sauce, and that was pretty good. But I like this idea. Thanks!:)
@CharlieTheCookAndrews7 жыл бұрын
Wow! You know some people make their meatloaf with the ketchup sauce on top. My grandmother used to make her's like that. It was good but I like the meatloaf with the gravy. I believe the reason why her meatloaf was dry is because of the dry ingredients she added plus it was baked with dry heat with no added moisture. I may make a video on the meatloaf with the ketchup on top. You're welcome!

Geneviève Gareau Mossé Just my guess...This video was put together or edited for teaching purposes. Broken down so it's easier to understand each component. I don't think it was shown in the actual order he cooked it. Just edited that way. Naturally you would start the the things that took the most time to cook first. Like the meatloaf. When the meat loaf was half way done, you could start your other items. If he went about his natural flow...a lot of new cooks would be lost. I think by showing each component separately it shows you how simple it is and it takes the stress away. Cover your meatloaf with foil while you make your gravy. The carry over heat will keep it warm. If you made the roux ahead of time....putting the gravy together from the pan drippings should take no time at all. Just skim off as much oil as possible. There are several ways to skim oil. I hope I was helpful. Not trying to be a video bully.

Morning Charlie. Your meat loaf looks good and I love a good meatloaf. My Mother and my Mother in law always put their meatloaf in a roasting pan with a lid and into the pan also put onions, carrots and potatoes. I'll bet your recipe would be good that way too. I have never seen mashed poatoes fixed the way you fixed them. We each have our way of doing things. I am 82 years old Charlie and live in central Indiana. Have a Blessed Day. Grandma Sue
@CharlieTheCookAndrews7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ms Sue for the compliments! Wow potatoes in the gravy of the meat loaf??? That sounds great. Something like a pot roast but it's with ground beef. Yes I agree we all have our own way of doing things! Wow 82 years old. I hope I can live to see that age! :D
