Inspired by the work of a Japanese modelmaker, Frank and Norm build miniature dioramas of submerged dystopian cities! Follow along as we take off the shelf scale-model cityscapes and transform them into moody resin-encased displays. It's a project you can do at home!

Is it possible to list out the materials you are using? It is hard to follow at home and know what sort of material to buy. I actually want to be able to make this at home. I see in the video that they're using smooth on urethane resin, but they have a ton of options on their website... What brand of pigment are they using to color the resin? What type of paint are they using to color the buildings?

One thing that kinda bugs me about a lot of dioramas and scale models is that people go to a ton of trouble to weather and detail the terrain, buildings, vehicles, etc, but usually don't re-paint the people and animals. The little toy sharks just look like toys to me. a few washes and maybe some drybrushing to represent the scars a lot of sharks have would have gone a long way.

He asks a lot of questions which he thinks viewers might ask so that you bimbos wont have to ask in the comments The reason he doesn't take charge and get creative is because he knows the video is not about him, its about the person who is a guest on Tested and THEIR skill not HIS.

When making pictures/ video, the sensor picks up color more differentiated than the human eye. To make the captured material seem more vibrant and more pleasing to watch, the contrast is increased, making difference in color much more apparent. So yes, there is a huge difference in color on camera, but there ain't when seeing it in person.

I think the reason Norm asks such silly questions is he’s trying to ask questions the viewers could potentially ask if they decided to try this, Norms questions used to drive me insane when I first started watching tested, but I realized that some people aren’t always going to understand how to do some of this stuff. I also think the other guy just didn’t have the answers Norm wanted since he had never done this before either, it was like Norm wanted him to have experience in something he didn’t know

Using silicone is far easier to demold then that acrilic. With the acrilic you had to wax, polish, glue, and pry apart hoping you don't damage the model. Silicone just peels right off. As long as you make sure your silicone is shiney, and the shiney side is up against the resin, you'll have a beautifully crystal clear piece in a LOT less time then you're example. If you look on Amazon, you can get a square silicone mold like what you're using. FYI: With silicone you WILL have to shore it up with an outer shell/box if you use flimsy silicone sheets. The guy that originally did this is using a silicone cutting mat that he squared off. I use them all the time. The trick is finding one with one side shiney (but you can find them on Amazon and dollar stores) I've made similar pieces but have used a dome and oval shapes vs square.... It looks very cool. (Top of the dome is clear resin, the bottom, large diameter area, has the diorama... Think of a paper weight... It's kind-of like that)

Joe H with a vacuum chamber, but in this case, the buildings were partially hollow, that might cause some issues, making sure those are solid would already prevent a lot of bubbles to form in the first place. Maybe even degassing won’t be necessary anymore that way.

you can avoid degassing mostly with a better stirring technique that doesn't whip bubbles into your mixture. Although the bigger ones were from air inside the buildings.

It appears that Norm was primarily concerned with duplicating the Japanese master’s work, while Frank exercised more personal artistic expression. Norm wanted a formula and adherence to a model, while Frank was inspired to do his own version. I understand Norm is the interviewer and novice, but he needs to ask less question with less frequency and experience in the moment more. His questions are very good for a science field where you are duplicating effort to prove a hypothesis and works less well when you are dealing with an artistic expression which is not as exacting or as easily reduced to numbers and variables in an equation.

If you read the original blog post (Google translate is a thing I don't know why they didn't read it) the creator recommends using a hair dryer to heat up the models before pouring the resin, the heat makes the air expand before the resin is poured. In their case the heat of the curing resin made the air expand and bubble out.
