I have just become Vice-chair of a hobby-related social club and due to the vacancy of a Secretary at present, I am sure I will be asked to take minutes at Committee Meetings and General Meetings until we find a Secretary. This video has helped me to understand what will be expected from the minutes and how to record them. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I am very grateful.

I listened to all important tips for taking meeting minutes and their importance in an overall management system. I am actually working as Secretary of Administration since 2022 and have learnt more about from the lecture.

Thank you for this video. Minute taking has been a nightmare for me. I'm glad you mentioned that it is the chair person that is responsible for summarising the points at the end of the meeting. Egos are involved with summarising a meeting?? The minutes are a legal document - there is no place for egos. I wish I had a chairperson that supported me during meetings instead of ignoring me, I'm not allowed to speak, no agenda, no preparation, people coming in and out of the room during the meeting. I've never had a good experience with minute taking because I have never felt supported. I used to put 'It was discussed that.....' and even that was wrong.....I now feel that when I am asked to minute meetings I can be confident of my role and the chair persons role.

Thank you so much for your post. My new PA job entails minute taking for 6 departments and tomorrow is my first time believe it or not and I'm really worried but less so now. You're a very good educator. Thanks again 😊

Love the "LAW" framework! Just tried it in a Zoom call and took notes with tl;dv for Zoom. The notes were directly linked to the meeting recording - particularly handy for the analysis afterwards. Felt it made it even more of a breeze

So glad I found your video. Really helpful - I'm definitely a reactive minute taker but ready to get better. I'm definitely going to take the LAW and DART techniques to my next meeting. Thank you for posting this!

I have zero experience in minute taking and as someone who has been a Business Support Officer for the council, I never had the chance to do so and for future roles this is something I lack

I take minutes for a multi billion dollar company…. It’s horrendous! If the meeting is in the morning, the rest of my day is taken up correcting the minutes and writing out in a logical way. There has to be a better way!
