The 5 streams were: 1. Streaming 2. Merch 3. Shows 4. Brand deals 5. Leveraging passions outside of music (e.g. start a new podcast or social media account around cooking, travelling or whatever you’re into. That way you can make some money on the side AND the fans you create from this audience will be more likely to support your music… and vice versa) Awesome video gang 🙏💛

Nic so glad I found your stuff!I’m reading your book now. Im a 42 year old videographer, music producer, and KZbinr. Been making music since I was 19 but I quit being an artist a while back because I felt I was too old. I’m going to document the journey implementing your tactics as an artist that’s old AF lol this will be an interesting experiment. I’ll report back next year this time.

This was amazing, I've learned so much about the industry this past year and it can all feel overwhelming without management but this sums it up perfectly. This is the first time hearing from Wendy and man have I learned a lot from her. I'm starting to do merch soon and soon hopefully tour using my connections to labels to fund for everything. Indify is also a great platform where artists can get their funding and one thing Wendy said that I love is that as an independent artist, this is my company. I am building a business and I am in control of everything which I love so much. Thank you guys so much for this episode 💚🖤

According to what I've leant ,radio matters depending on genre, demographic and season which the song is released and yes you jus have to choose the right station for your genre.

This is a sick pod! definitely making notes - you've probably said it somewhere but I'd love to hear your opinions on albums vs singles for independent artists
@NDPNDNTmedia2 жыл бұрын
Yup, we talk about this lots! Consistent singles are key for growing your audience. Albums are much better once you already have an established fanbase to connect deeper with.

That girl frequently interrupts everyone when there is good information... she should learn how to be a better host and wait till others have finished what they are trying to convey. That's the only reason why I only came on this channel once.

Obviously none of her advice is bad, but, it isn't anything artists haven't heard 100 times before. Personalize your brand. Run ads, and ad tests to max return. Diversify your marketing methods with other forms of media. Collab with existing brands yeah yeah yeah. Okay lol. I get it! It's funny too, as I have personally worked with many people industry side (see my about) and at the end of the day anyone past a certain age doesn't actually seem to know anything new. That's also due to the fact there is only so much that works these days. What I found to work best is to treat my music like a label, not an artist. You need a catalogue. You need multiple artist names. You need to remix and collab as much as possible. Best way to build a profile in 2023 is to pay for a feat of an artist doing really well, then, target fans of that audience when pushing your song (feat. Artist) and siphon as much of their fan base as possible. Rinse and repeat that method once a month, until you can once a week, until you can 4x a week, under 4 names, remixing that same initial song. You can even build a catalogue of 100+ tracks, dozens of collabs, all from remixing that one existing song, and getting edm producers, and other artist bigger than you to re cut a verse, etc. So many options these days. Do not fall victim to just doing what everyone else is doing. The path to success is often uniquely yours. The moment people start selling it, is the moment it stops working! (Hence why I do not offer a course or do step by step tuts!)
