Just a bit of advice for anyone planning to do this using TCGplayer. You're most likely not getting cards that will grade a PSA 10. I'm not saying never but the large majority of the cards are either off-centered or have some other issue otherwise they would have graded them themselves.
@marcburch263320 күн бұрын
I bought hundreds of cards and I wouldn’t send any of them in 😆 I’m always skeptical when people say they will because I personally wouldn’t send anything in for a PSA 9 when PSA 9s are the same price as the raw card anyway

Can confirm. I’ve gotten a few NM Raw higher end chases off TCG player and the centering is always an issue. I don’t grade cards anyway but you can tell seller sent the less desirable copy. I only purchase off TCGPlayer when pics are included now.

Any card that is above $20, I would buy from eBay. Otherwise, TCGPlayer can save you a lot of shipping fees if you need lesser cards to complete your collection.

THIS is the video I’ve wanted to hear! Thanks so much, Michael! I believe I mentioned I did a ‘test’ of option #2 - purchased three Pikachu ex 238 cards raw and just learned that PSA graded two as a 10 and the third a 9. After fees and shipping, I’ll make between $700-1k total depending on the platform I sell them on (eBay or FB marketplace). It can work but it takes a lot of time, patience and potentially capital to front load the inventory. The other downside is when the market corrects (and it will), you could be faced with holding some inventory or selling at a nominal gains/loss. It’s all about risk and timing. Thanks again!

I got lucky too I'm from the UK and got 1 of ebay for £60 now going for £220. I do have a question, as alot if cards have gone up, do you think its worth selling these cards for example bubble mew and buying msrp sealed booster boxes to hold. Surely a booster box will double before these cards that have already appreciated alot recently??

@Epic.Eliminations I don't know, I will keep it, bcs it's fy favorite card, but if you want, I think it's good type to sell it, bcs because you will have a good profit

My general approach to singles - buy the pokemon you just love and try and scout for them across a range of sets and become an expert on which sets your pokemon feature. I’ve just been surprised over time and having so much fun buying singles for different pokemon I like (e.g. Psyduck, Maril, Vulpix, snowpoke, squirtles), accumulating them, and then seeing them in my binder collection. Have been so cool buying from other collectors and then showing what else they have, and picking up some bangers. You soon find your collection pokemon as a whole become very valuable rather than perceive them vas singles.

Sign of a booming hobby, I sub about 2k cards a year with PSA, haven’t been up charged in a few years on bulk grading. Hit 3 Bubble Mew PSA 10’s in my last order. 2 151 Charizard SIR’s PSA 10’s and the Paldean Fates SIR PSA 10’s amongst others. Really crazy to see what’s happening! Especially with buying most of these raw singles around $100 USD, which you can’t do for recent sets. Greninja SIR, Pikachu SIR, just explode out of the gate.

I predominantly invest in sealed, but I did buy a stack of Groudon illustration rares before they started to climb in value, another two cards I went hard on was the Ninetales and Scizor from Obsidian, I was picking them up for peanuts over a year ago. The plan is to send them off to PSA this year for grading, I’m quietly confident 90% of them will return as gem mint 10’s. Top video Michael👍

I often hear that the “grading play” is a great (and quick) way to build capital in the TCG market. Whether you’re trying to start a TCG business or to reinvest. It’s not for me though. Being in AUS makes the grading costs too much of a risk for me.

Great video mate. Question: your last tip was on binder collections. You mentioned that you shouldn’t expect the market raw value of all the cards in a binder if you don’t take the time to sell them individually. What about complete or master sets? Would they attract a premium instead of partial sets?
@pokeoz9120 күн бұрын
I think master sets are a bit different. People almost have to pay for the premium of having all the work done for them. And it's only 1 hit of postage as a buyer rather than chasing heaps of individual cards 👌

@ very hard to consistently get singles under 80% value and then make money flipping them after taxes and fees. You have to nail a good percentage of PSA 10s if you’re going the grading route. You usually break even on 9s and lose money on 8s. Takes a lot of up front capital to buy 50 grade worthy $20-$50 cards.
