Cheap college/high school books that sell well at the beginning of semesters are Romeo and Juliet, etc...especially ones that have some crib notes in them....like Shakespeare made easy. Students order them on Prime which pays you more and they put them on Daddy's credit card as well. Even when I couldn't sell anything else, all the cheap Shakespeare paperbacks always sold right away. I wish I had made that my entire business model.

This is great info. I always wondered why more full timers don't do Amazon FBA but instead of treasure hunting, doing drop shipping with it like Arthur mentioned. (It is more money to invest at the beginning of course).That way you don't have to put items in your RV. So many ways to make money without keeping inventory. Shopify stores with printing items like the t shirts (printful). Of course it's that illusive Internet Connection you have to find also. :) Thanks to Lisa for all the details on FBA. I'm enjoying all your videos Robin.

I wasn't sure which one to reply to so I'll make a new reply. I stopped Amazon FBA When changes were pretty consistent and frequent and I was working a full-time job, being an executor of an estate and my health issues were just starting to really coming to full play, so I just couldn't do it anymore. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to stay up on the changes and end up losing money instead of making money. I can absolutely understand why this would be great on the road and if I can ever get my health back together I would consider it again 👍

If you are the kind of person who likes the thrill of the hunt for bargains, then by all means do as she does. However, you can actually sell FBA without ever touching your product AND sell in volume. You can have items sent straight from the factory directly to Amazon. More volume and higher profit margin as well. No label printing, no visiting UPS store, etc. An alternative, if you don't want to deal with a manufacturer, is having items sent straight from a wholesaler to Amazon. However, you do lose some of the profit since they get a cut. Even if you have to set up an LLC to accomplish it, that's something that can be done totally online AND set up in the choice State of Delaware even. It will cost you around $90 a year to pay for a registered agent there to represent your company. Actually simple to do. :)

That is not "drop shipping" it's still FBA. Drop shipping is when you list something on a sales platform without ever actually owning the item, then when you get an order for said Item (and paid), you turn around and buy/order it from a fulfillment source (as a customer) and put person you sold it to as the ship to address. Some people actually use amazon as source but they usually use AliExpress. Not a big fan of this, the margin of profit is often very slim, no room for error, upside is you don't need a lot a capital outlay. Some people use cash back credit cards and make an extra couple percent. Another tactic is to buy gift cards at a discount and use those to purchase with when you order. Like at Christmas when people get gift cards but want cash, another good source to get discount gift cards is off college kids. Parents think if they send kids gift cards instead of cash their kid won't blow the cash(party), not knowing kids sell cards for fraction of value to get cash to blow.Actually will work for any reselling business, buy cards at discount, use them to buy stuff to resale on ebay or wherever. Just be careful, stay armed and let it be known, Once word gets out you deal in cash..well ..bad things can happen. I didn't deal with a lot of different people, basically had one kid I dealt with. I gave him 50-75% of face value which left him some room to buy them from other kids, he was bringing me $100s worth per week. I got away from it though, now I've noticed gold/pawn shops have signs "cash for gift Cards". There are some online exchanges to buy/sell them but I haven't really checked into those much.

I think it's also important to let everyone know that you can't sell everything on Amazon. Some categories you have to be approved by Amazon to sell for example grocery items. There is a learning curve to FBA so please take the time to learn about how fast an item sells (programs like keepa or camelcamelcamel) otherwise you can be spending a lot of money on inventory that doesn't sell or doesn't sell fast enough.

The Amazon site you use in the store is really a scanning app on your phone. You scan the bar code (takes a picture) on the item and up comes all the info about the current selling price on Amazon, the ranking, how many of that item are listed, the fees and the net profit you will make. When preparing the item for shipping, you must cover the bar code with a new bar code from the listing. A black only small laser printer is about $99 at Office Max.

Someone commented that this is way to much and the return is better with a paycheck working 9-5 is better, I agree because you get to fight traffic, see the same people everyday and many you don’t like, you have to pay monthly rent/mortgage for a home you don’t get to enjoy (160 hrs work + another 240 hours you sleep, that’s if you sleep 8 hrs a night) , cut the grass, watch the same tv program, dictated to by a boss that showers you with so much “love” it hurts, and the list goes on. Lisa and the rest of you nomads you are missing out on the “normal” life. Why are wasting your time seeing different mountains, rivers, experiencing cultures of the states you visit. BORING! I would hate to be in your shoes. 😀

I thought that part was confusing also. And it's being sold to Amazon Prime members. I would be very upset receiving used items when I order something. I've seen people do unboxings on KZbin and have seen some reviews where people receive used items and they could tell that it was used when they received them. Now I know where those items must have come from instead of coming from companies that have manufactured those items coming from people out shopping and sending them into Amazon.

So from what I've seen from this. It is quite a bit of work. I have a printer. It's the packaging that sounds the most cumbersome. You find the items first of corse and then buy the boxes. From a storage/moving store? I do like how you tried to break everything down step by step. I will look into it. However I feel like its a lot more work then she made it sound.. Thanks for the links!

For anybody wondering about FBA: You can very easily create a FBA business much more easily than Lisa did. While that might be fun for some people, a much easier way is to buy bulk wholesale items from suppliers like Alibaba and ship them DIRECTLY to Amazon. For example, you could buy 100 iPhone cases for .50 each and sell them on Amazon for $6. Not having to handle the items yourself is a huge key to making wider margins on FBA. You can also open your own Shopify store and sell your wholesale inventory that way!

I'm going to look into this ... Quick question tho. Via this venue or some other, can you well hand-crafted items on Amazon? Or should I stick with Etsy? I'm a spinner (fiber arts) and believe there is a market for custom yarn and other fiber arts "from the road". For example; hand-dyed, hand-spun yarn with names like "Sunset Over Denali", "Colorado River Blues", etc. Thoughts?

I tried this out a year ago, and I know it as "retail arbitrage", but it was too hard for me. I think the thrift stores around me were wise to this, and they increased their prices to where I can't imagine making a x3 profit. I tried like 10+ thrift stores, spent 10+ hours looking around for niche items I was familiar with, but I could barely find any profitable items (found 1 that I never bothered to sell - 10 hours for 5 dollars?). It seems like this skill takes a little more knowledge than I have, and you have to be good with knowing prices/deals. Maybe it takes practice, and I learned about shipping and more, but this seemed like hard money to me. It can be fun to explore stores though.

so true Carol. I know several people that have tried eBay or Etsy and they lose money. I think that you really have to have a strict process to make this work. One thing Lisa did tell me is that in the beginning she made some purchases that didn't work out because she didn't do her research. Now she researches the order in depth in the store before making the purchase to make sure that Amazon has an appetite for it and that it has the right profit margin. I think you are smart for understanding the pros and cons and thank you for the comment. I wish you the best, happy travels!

Lisa, do you actually sell the items?? What I'm saying is is your name the sellers? I like this idea but not sure about paying Amazon to do this. You're doing them a favor, at least in my thinking. Thanks Lisa.

So if you're ordering an FBA item on Amazon it could be a thrift store find, kind of like buying from ebay?
@CherryKelln
@CherryKelln 5 жыл бұрын
Most of them aren't sold as "new" - thus the "Buy used from $x..." on a lot of items on their Amazon product pages.

Cherry Kelln - thanks for your reply, I'll keep my eye out for the "used" label, have never noticed it before but I rarely shop amazon, maybe that's why, lol.

Interesting - this answers the question of why you sometimes see comments on Amazon that an item they bought was dirty or missing something....always wondered about that. So, if you wanted to, how can you know on Amazon if you are potentially buying a thrift store find that could be used vs a new item from the manufacturer..are these sellers that Amazon calls “third party”?

Sellers should be noting that and items should only show up when you click to "Buy used for $x" via the Amazon product page.

I've only had one item bought "new" that showed up obviously used. I rated the item a 1 and was immediately contacted by Amazon and offered a full refund without having to return the item. This video sure explains that event though!

I thought the same thing. I've heard people say they received used items. Now this explains it.

Just Google search "Amazon FBA" and go to the Amazon-related page. Tons of additional info on it out there, too!

No, but I think it's totally based on how good you are at finding deals and how much time you want to put it.

Noreen N Is this taking into consideration greatly diminished muscle strength, flexibility, arthritis, varicose veins, bad knees, needing to pee frequently during night, etc? Are you old yourself & have been able to successfully RV yourself? I need to hear from someone who has experienced it. Thank you 👍😁🌻

I will be heading out at that age. I suggest you find an exercise program now to help like BodyBoss2 and yoga. Take CBD oil for your arthritis discomfort, however, movement helps that with join issues. Buy a composting toilet for your rig to help in that area - check out the videos from other people on youtube, lots of seniors. Do all your research now so you are ready to go and why so long - today is all you have, tomorrow is a mystery... so plan
