Thanks for the video, Leila! My two cents: If you"Excel" in a corporate job and want to show off your Excel skills, talk to your Learning (HR) team and offer them in-house training. That's the most effective way to bring values to the organisation, and getting people to know your values. :)

Got a Google Sheets question. I'm writing it here on your most recent video post so you'll see it. Is there a way to create a drop down list with sub drop downs. Right now the only thing I can find are dependent drop downs which involve a separate column of data/choices that opens up when you make your first choice. What I'm talking about is when you hover the cursor over the drop down menu choice and you automatically get a sub-drop down list to choose from. When you make your choice from the sub-drop down list it populates your choice in the original column. Not a separate column of data to choose from.

My wife and I are big fans of your channel. You've saved my so much time over the past few years and I thank you for that! Do you know a workaround to specify what window view the tab opens in? I've tried Microsoft and they suggested java and the API which I'm not currently an expert at. I use multiple windows of the same workbook and the behavior of opening a selected tab to a random window is beyond problematic when I'm collecting data from one window for another and I never know which window will be replaced by my tab selection.

Hi Leila, I discovered your site accidentally and love it, including your style of educating as it is helping me get better at using Excel. I have seen in your videos and others that the use of merged columns is discouraged and wanted to know how to handle this when I need to group a series of rows that collectively form a unit of transaction. e.g., if I am tracking expenses across multiple events across multiple sites, I am using a sheet where individual expenses are grouped under a single event id, which along with other event-level details are shown as a merged row (e.g., event id, event location, total expenses etc). May be you have already done a video on this and appreciate your guidance. Thanks

Thank you for a really interesting video ! I have been using Excel and Access (with VBA) for at least twenty years - so I think I'm probably fairly competent, but how can I tell what level I'm at really at and whether I've got enough expertise to sell my skills in the way you describe ? I tend to think everyone knows what I know, but that isn't necessarily true.
@LeilaGharani Жыл бұрын
One way to gauge your expertise is to start sharing your knowledge-maybe by answering questions on specialized forums or taking on small projects on freelance platforms like Upwork. This will not only validate your skill level but also highlight areas you might want to strengthen. You'll be surprised to find out how many people could benefit from your years of experience. Give it a shot!

@@LeilaGharanigreat advice Leila. With excel I always find it's difficult to gauge because no matter what you know, there's always more to learn and you always meet someone way ahead of you (at least I do but I'm not as advanced as you).
