This type of tray was one of the very first projects I ever made on my CNC, a little Panda shaped catchall tray for my wfe. She hasn't used it once, instead it stands up on a shelf on display as, "it's too cute to lie down and fill with crap." 😆Lovely project, they look great 👍

Thank you so much for the video and the great ideas! I'm thinking of upgrading my CNC to an 800 W, because that's the highest it would hold in weight, do you think that is powerful enough for these sorts of jobs? Thank you in advance!
@GTWoodshopАй бұрын
Hi John, my Dewalt is a 900 watt and has all the power I 'currently' need, so I think an 800 would fine as long as you don't 'dig to deep'. I do intend to upgrade the whole rig in the future, but its more of a want than a need at present.

Graham followed the video, bought the Whiteside Bowl bit and completed the first drop in tray and it looks great so thanks - very helpful. When i tried the second bowl I altered the settings to do one less pass which put the cut to just over 2mm rather that the 1.8mm from the first attempt and the machine stalls with a 'spindle under stress' message. The first attempt took 90 mins, so is it my machine (Trend Desktop Pro) is just not powerful enough or did yours take similar time and I need to be more patient when doing Bowls- maybe I need th Ooznest Workbee !!😑
@GTWoodshop17 күн бұрын
Hi Geoff, a 2mm pass with that bit is a lot of material for a 6mm spindle to remove, I usually aim for a pass depth of 1.5mm and find something else to do.👍👍

@@GTWoodshop graham - Thanks for the reply - having checked, the Trend CNC has a 1.5w motor which probably just isnt 'man' enough for heavy work, so as per your advice, will reduce the cut and have more patience - thanks again Geoff

Great video.... just some super small (humble) feedback. right at the part of Vectric the sound goes to the left side speaker only. I noticed this because the sound went completely away for me as I am totally deaf in my left ear. not a big deal after I figured it out. I was able to wait a bit until no one else was around at work to just view this one via built in speaker (instead of headphones). sorry, I'm not complaining, just letting you know. : ) keep up the good work!

Great video again, I'm looking to get a CNC and noticed you have the Ooznest which is the one I'm drawn towards how do you find it? Thanks D

HI Derek, for the money I'm very pleased with it. It rigid enough to cope with reasonable speeds and the dewalt router also seems to be coping just fine. The initial Z height is restrictive but if you follow the simple mod you gain an extra 30 - 40mm if memory serves, so all in all really pleased. Would love to get an infinity next, but a lot of money.

@@GTWoodshopHi Graham. What size is your CNC machine. Do you ever feel it is to small or too large. If you upgrade will you be selling it?
@GTWoodshop Жыл бұрын
@@thistleman5 In order. approx 1mtr x 500mm, Yes I sometimes wish I'd bought bigger and yes I sometimes wish it took up less space in the workshop and finally yes I will be upgrading and selling this one. I promised myself I would make it pay for itself first, which its done. 👍👍

Nice design, curious for the kityy carve you selected taper ball nose. This doesn't cur into sharp points completely. I would hsve srlected 60°v or 45° v-bit and run a V-Carve toolpath
@GTWoodshop Жыл бұрын
Hi John, last time round I used a 45 V bit, thought I'd try the tapered ball nose this time, came out alright I think.
