Oh that work, it just give it extra empowerment of moonlight since water jar get water that are empowered by moonlight in the sky, closer to moon than you can do on surface. Just make sure the water is clean afterward. You can do this by filter and then boil the water because Sun and Moon are related to each other, so they wont lose their power and yet still be safe to drink afterward for that extra oomph.

There is a belief that different crystals have different purposes in witchcraft so yes some help with mood and focus among other things. And as for the moon its not so much the light but the belief in the energy produced. A large part of witchcraft is energy and intentions more then material focus though they do help.
