Hey Danny, this video was incredibly helpful, thanks a ton buddy! I made a level, it's the 1st Mario Maker level I've ever, so there are probably numerous ways I could improve. I wish the item/enemy limit was higher, the levels were longer and the scale of pitch went higher and lower. I guess I just have to make do. My level code is TY8-B4Y-6QG. Thanks again!!!

Really good video. It will help a lot of people. Here some extra tips: Use sound effects for beats or other effects in the song Use doors and pipes to repeat or extend the song Use custom scroll for different speeds Focus on design to get more likes If you use auto scroll and you have enough space you can make a little jump'n run challenge for Mario to also get more likes Most importantly you should make levels of songs that people know like pop-muisc or Nintendo soundtracks

This is something I've wanted to do and now I can try it out, I'll post a music level here when I finish it, also I know you wanted to keep it basic but 5ths and minor/major 3rds could also be used as a substitute for an octave (adding a 5th and a 3rd together might be a bit challenging given spacing).

Sorry for this long comment oh and btw this all happened today. Thanks! This helped me a lot! I didn't know how to silence the level and the section that showed me all the different sounds was a big time saver! I would however like to point out that the 4 tile spacing tip you provided is not at all legitimate. The tile layout does not correlate to a song at all unless you have the perfect bpm and side scroll to match the original. It's all time based and the spacing is completely unrelated to actual sheet music. For example, a song I'm making in mario maker right now is in the standard 4/4 time signature but in order to time it correctly the bass hits are 13 spaces apart.

I couldn't for the life of me figured out why it wasn't making a music noise! THEN I finally figured it out!! What the video doesn’t state is the music block MUST be the orange variation. I didn't know this till I clicked and held the block and saw it had different viariations lol. White music block - basic jumping spring-ish noise, the sound of it won't change no matter where it's put or what enemy is jumping on it! Orange music block - Musical note noise, sound of it changes with placement/enemy!
