Hey Chris, my mother made this because we loved it! She just use fresh neckbones cleaned, whole sliced onions, and potatoes. She would cook down then add potatoes and it would make its own gravy or sauce thick enough and then the cornbread, sliced onions, sliced cucumber, sliced tomatoes, and vinegar. My mom was from Arkansas! This made me want to get some and cook before new years! Thank you !

I bet back in the day the poor folk did not take that fat out. They liked the taste. I remember that people boiled it a few minutes and skimmed the residue that came to the top of the water off. Today the price of neck bones is not cheap.

I really don't like it because basically when I do my neck bones and white potatoes and bell pepper and onions I do smoke beef neck bones and I do smoke ribs in there and I add string beans to it and whole stupid things and onions and bell pepper and I make a whole pan of homemade cornbread I miss you I got my garlic my onion powder my Lowry seasoning my accent my black pepper my bell peppers my onions my whole stew tomatoes from the can I like to use fresh picked string beans and red skin potatoes or Idaho potatoes but I do minds very different from hers I do the first boil after hour I wrench and then add fresh water then I cut my white potatoes up over there and add my whole can of string beans with the juice and everything but sometimes I just cook my neck bones the white potato string bean and chicken broth is very good that way too everybody got their own way of cooking and I do my homemade cornbread but yeah I know about the pot liquor but I don't I think it's probably taste good but I just then I don't too much care for the way she prepared it not saying nothing bad but I'm from Chicago and we prepared neck bones and white potatoes differently other than that thanks for the wonderful video 🤔👌🏾💯

I lived in Chicago for 40 yrs and there is no standard that you need to stick to one way to cook. I have string beans, neck bones and Wht potatoes posted. But that’s not the only way to cook neck bones. A lot of people think outside the box. You cook what you have or want to eat. Some people try something new other people don’t. It’s a recipe. That’s all. No one suggested giving up a tradition you set for your family. Thank you for your long comment.
