Hi, Nicole. I saw this video when you first did it, but then 'lost it'. I'm SO GLAD to have found it again. My quetion: does the pump sprayer clog from the glue? Do you take the sprayer out, wash it, and use a bottle cap on the glue bottle? I hope to see an answer from you even though it's been 2 years since you posted this video. Thanks, diane

I've had my mix in the same spray bottle since this video and it has yet to clog! I don't do any kind of special cleaning of the nozzle or anything...

Great tip. You can also pop out the large applicator end of the tombow bottle and let the glue just drain into the spray bottle. The only down side I've found is that afterwards if you try to use the stencil and put embossing powder down over the ink, the powder will also adhere to the glue which can ruin the embossing.

Hi Delina! I'm not sure what you mean about the embossing powder problem. Do you mean glue that sticks to the paper after you pick up the stencil? I haven't had any glue stick to my cardstock yet - it all stays on the stencil.... hmm....

Hello Nicole, This is a great hack and a video. Stumbled upon your/this video after searching for methods for re-glueing cutting mats used by the cutting machines like Silhouette Cameo, Cricut, etc.. My question: I would like to know if this method of your will work for re-glueing cutting mats used by the cutting machines like Silhouette Cameo, Cricut, etc..

I believe it would. In the past, I have used the Zig Glue Pen (here on Amazon: amzn.to/3vYVrz2 ) to re-glue my cutting mats. But, I think that watering down the Tombow glue and then brushing or spraying on might accomplish the same task while getting the most out of your adhesive! I would suggest taping around the edges so they don't get sticky, then either spray and perhaps brush out so it's even, or just brush on directly, then let it dry. If you're already experimenting with an old mat, it's worth a try. The glue will come off with a soak in rubbing alcohol. I think I have everything but the distilled water. Thanks for sharing this tip, Nicole! I have been using Krylon Easy Tack, and do have the ability to take it & my stencil(s) outside to spray. But having to shake a can for 2 minutes makes me less inclined to use it if I only need to spray one or maybe 2 stencils. Your method is much better, imo. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)

This is an amazing video... exactly what I am looking for because here in India there are no low tack spray adhesives... believe me i checked 😭..and the international ones that the crafters use are pretty expensive and i wouldn't probably use thinking of spraying the money away every time i wanna use a stencil 😂😂😂 thank you so much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️

Yes - those low-tack sprays are not cheap here in the US, I can't imagine what they cost as an import, if you can even find them! I'm so glad that this solution will work for you! I'm wondering if instead of water I can use isopropyl alcohol instead. I'm thinking of using this for 3D printing and I would rather not have water sprayed on electronics.

Great question! However, alcohol will make this water & latex style glue "curdle". I actually use an alcohol bath to remove the glue from the stencils.

As long as the adhesive is not wet - but completely dry to the tacky state, it should work without leaving residue, or tearing your project. Of course, you can test it on a scrap piece first just to see what happens. If any adhesive does get left behind, it can be easily removed with an adhesive eraser!

Will this work on screenprinting on fabric?

Great question - and unfortunately, I don't know! I know that a crafting stencil prepped with this method will stay stuck to most fabrics, and you could then use fabric paint to stencil through, but actual screenprinting is a different technique. I suppose you could test it out and see! Please let me know if you do and how it turns out (good, or bad!)

Can you use any white glue?

As long as the glue is designed to create a repositionable bond, it can be used. Tombow Multi, if applied to paper or a stencil (like this homemade spray), and not directly applied to another surface, will dry to a tacky state that allows it to be repositioned. HTH!

Technically, the Tombow Multi glue is permanent if it's adhered when still wet! It's a very versatile adhesive.
