It's my grandma's favorite seasoning ( may her soul rest in peace). She was a professional cook with stalls at Dugbe Market at Ibadan from the 50'- 70' and her food is not complete without ogiri Ijebu. She will even eat it anytime she is constipated😂.

Wow, so this is how to make ogiri Ijebu. I loooooove eating it bcos I'm from Isara Remo. We use it a lot for Ikokore . Very sweet and natural. Thanks for sharing.

No, igbo ogiri is different from ijebu ogiri

It tastes similar to the one used for onugbu though. You can interchange them. I have used the igbo one in ikokore before and it was ok

Hi Ojuolape, thank you for this recipe but you know the ogiri we buy in the market is dark, why then is this not dark coloured? Please respond to me. Thank you. Also instead of boiling Egusi for 24 hours, can I use pressure cooker especially, if all I wanted to achieve is to soften the Egusi? Please respond to me. Thanks a lot.

Ogiri is brown it has been wrapped in a leave. Once you wrap it, the colour will change to that of the leaves colour. You can use the pressure cooker, which is just for the egusi to get soft. Thank you

I just like the way you prepared it, very good, thank you very much. But the way you covered your nose shows it gives foul odour which can give the viewers bad impression about our very good & medicinal ogiri, it gives very good aroma or flavour & very good for all types of local or native soups.
