How to make old fashioned oats syrup pack bait recipe for carp and catfish. Oats I would say are one of the most commonly used pack bait or method mixes used in the USA. For good reason they are very effective for catching carp and catfish.
This simple syrup oats bait recipe only a few items are needed.
1 Tube old fashioned oats
13oz Corn Syrup
Flavor of Your Choice.
It will not break the bank and it lasts basically forever. If it stops packing just add a couple ounces of syrup back in and it will be like new again. Please check out these other places as well links below

Jello in Baits with corn syrup gives it a gritty texture but will still work

I use a plastic bead as a hook bait. Works great and cannot come off.

@@carpandcatfishbaitstipstri7309 this is very interesting. I used Kix and Puffs but you never know if they are still on the hook because once they are wet, the come off pretty quickly! Why don't you make a video explaining your Plastic Bead method? Sounds very interesting

They won't rot. If they dry up just add more syrup and they will pack again

Yes. I have noticed in the past month every brand seems to have changed there packaging looks. Seems like the oats inside are a little different as well

First time making oats using syrup (I generally used corn) and followed your recipe. It seemed to be sticky at first so I let it set up for a day or two (in a tightly covered bucket). But now it seems dry, and won't pack. I used Aldi brand Oats and Syrup, added some Great Value brand Fruit Punch powder (similar to Kool Ade) and a tablespoon of Superior brand Vanilla-Butter-Nut flavor. Any idea what went wrong? Maybe adding more syrup would help? I've been making pack baits for years, including grits with syrup and millet with syrup. I've had oats that I made with creamed corn get dry before, but all I had to do was add a bit of water to fix it. Don't think that will work here.
