How to Make Origami Paper Stars

I have made several of these stars using different videos as guides. They are very similar but each is just a little different. This video was nice but I think the all black paper made it hard to see what you were doing. If this had been the first time trying to make these stars, I would have struggled. I do appreciate your doing the video, though.

I just did this last night and I made a beautiful star tree topper! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I upcycled some brown paper bags and cut out eight 5 x 5 in (12.7 x 12.7 cm) squares. It took me about an hour and I struggled a little at the end trying to get the folds together, but I think it's better than buying a tree topper, plus I got to recycle paper. I think it took longer for me because I had to measure and cut all the squares. I never do origami or papercrafts but you explained well enough so I could manage, thank you! ☺

this was simple to put together once construction of the individual points became easier. i found that i had to make 9 star points to achieve the 8 point configuration given one of the points slides into two separate ends to complete the star. overall, i love this and plan to make more as the pandemic rages on. thank you for creating this wonderful how-to video.

Couldn‘t follow this. The black paper makes everything almost invisible and when the piece is folded in on itself I cannot follow at all, because she suddenly flips it to the other side or something without mentioning what exactly she‘s doing? So frustrating. :-/

This 30 min craft project just turned into 3 hours. I’ve been trying to fold it into itself and It doesn’t work. Idk what I did wrong, I followed everything perfectly and tried pinning it together with clips to help it go together. Nothing works. So upset

Hey, I love the video but I still can't get my parts to stay put once I've folded them into each other, do you have advice?

Obviously, I am not the videographer but since she didn't answer your question I thought I would give you a little advice in case you are still struggling. I use paper clips or clothes pins to hold everything in place until I get the last two joined and then I can remove them and tighten the stars together. Once they are tightened they stay together really well. If your paper is way to thick, such as a really good quality cardstock, you may have trouble just because the folds aren't super crisp. The paper that she used is from Michaels and it is not as thick as some cardstock. I have found when using super thick cardstock, I will occasionally need to add a little glue. I have made these using scrapbooking paper and sometimes the folds are just not tight enough. I glue then because while I know in origami you aren't suppose to use glue, sometimes you just got to do whatever to get it to stick together. Hope this helps.

For Christ sakes - it’s a good thing she practiced looking in the camera. There are about a 1000 other tutorial videos only 2 min long and they don’t make mistakes. And someone should mention that you only need “square paper” to make any star…
