Hi Ryan, many thanks for posting your interesting work. I wanted to ask you if you could make some videos with the tests done and provide your opinion after 3 months of maceration, for example. Thanks.

I've just come across your channel, and...I'm hooked.😮 I love fragrance, i do find the power of smells to be....i don't know.. i can't explain it, but I'm sure you and anyone else who watches this understands what i mean. I'm by no means a chemist, perfumer or whatever, but watching you concoct that was strangley relaxing and mesmerising. I've actually got Megamare and i love it. Can't wait to go thru your back catalogue. I do think you've hit on something here, great work. Look forward to your future uploads.

I just put this formula together today and it definitely has that kind of weird and funky marine smell that is in Megamare, I opted to add a touch of Helional to it as well to just give it a touch more wateryness. I'm really enjoying it, thank you!

Thanks for the video, Ryan, great as always! I’ve made a small batch of it using this formula several weeks ago, but subbed ambermax for cedroxide for some reason, and used rose givco. It turned out really close to original, but I think I slightly overdosed the damascone, so the rose accord turned out a bit too prominent. But overall - very interesting and original fragrance. Once again maestro Gualtieri shows how to properly balance extreme overdoses of difficult compounds, like ambrocenide.

What do you mean by 'rose'? Are you referring to rose essential oil? Also, when you mentioned cypress, did you mean the essential oil? When you referred to cedarwood, atlas cedarwood, orange, pink pepper, and neroli, were you talking about essential oils as well?
@RyanParfums3 ай бұрын
The rose is a question mark. I don’t know what kind of rose or what form (abs, eo, CO2). The formula I saw only stated “rose”. All materials should be assumed to be essential oils (a.k.a. “Essences”) unless noted otherwise. Eg, You’ll see “abs” next to cedarwood atlas if it’s supposed to be the absolute. Otherwise, assume it is the essential oil.

Can i use benzyl salicylate because Isoraldeine 70 don't have. Second can i use benzyl salicylate because i don't have Cis-3 hexenyl salicylate
@RyanParfums4 ай бұрын
If you don’t have Isoraldeine 70, use Methyl Ionone Gamma. If you don’t have Me Io Gamma, use any Ionone you care before using Benzyl Salicylate. You can use Benzyl Salicylate instead of Cis-3 Hexenyl Salicylate, but the character will be a little different.

Is there a reason that you are using DPG as a solvent rather Than Ethanol? The Line totals probably being skewed by the dilutions used during composition, and I do almost all of my dilutions in EtOH. I just re-calculate the formula before starting, to get %RAW of each material used in formula.
@wib60444 ай бұрын
I’m not entirely clear on it, but from what I understand the DPG is to stay within VOC limits. In California you cannot sell a product with more than 70-75% alcohol content. If your formula has materials with restricted concentrations, you can’t just make up the 25-30% difference with fragrance. DPG allows you to keep within both VOC limits and material restrictions. Or it might just be the latter. I’m not certain about EU laws but they most likely have a similar law. It wouldn’t make sense to curtail a formula for regulations in one state. DPG is a solvent, but it is most likely used as often as it is as a filler and or even fixative properties. Or the dilutions they are using are using DPG instead of alc. I can’t find any insider official information on its use, other than what I’ve pieced together.
@wib60444 ай бұрын
I just re-watched the beginning of the video and caught his reasoning for adding DPG in there…ignore the above comment🤪
@RyanParfums4 ай бұрын
Imagine making this fragrance concentrate - that means no ethanol allowed. What would we use to ensure that all of the Ambroxan, Ambrocenode, and Veramoss would dissolve? Without a solvent, it’s likely we’d have bits of those three materials floating around in the concentrate. We can’t have that. 😊
@mandarinmelon4 ай бұрын
@@RyanParfums Thank you!
@Dim_the_Athenian2 ай бұрын
What the DPG 15.47% solving in this formula? Aren't the materials solvable enough by the alcohol it self? It happens to own Megamare and for me it has a distinct smell of Nori sheets and algae, which of these materials from the formula compose that note?
@RyanParfums2 ай бұрын
I’d imagine the ambroxan needs a little extra help dissolving.

Why u use plastic instead glass jars for Ingredients ?
@RyanParfums3 ай бұрын
When I make dilutions, I use amber glass bottles. When receive my materials from suppliers they are almost always bottled in glass or aluminum. Any plastic container is usually saved for solid materials (powders) as it keeps shipping costs down, doesn’t break when dropped, and doesn’t react with the materials it holds.

Not the be the party-pooper, but i would not recommend using formulas from perfume.archaeology and call them GCMS. Most of those formulas are from patents or they are formulas from manufacturers to showcase single raw materials and aroma chemicals. Just like you said, most of the time they don't even add up. For example, this Megamare formula is missing some crucial lines. There is no Dihydromyrcenol in your formula. There is no BoisIris in your formula. There is no Cedramber here. I can also only recommend you to get a sample of the real thing before you compound something that should smell alike. It really does not make sense to compound a fragrance you have never smelled before. This formula could be completely off (which its not, but as i mentioned there are certainly elements missing) and you would get the impression that Megamare is supposed to smell like this.
