How To Make Pitomba Preserves!

In our family only my son and I like the fruit fresh but everybody in our family loves it as a preserve; just like you made it. Unfortunately, this year we have tons of fruit flies in our pitomba. I guess we'll be serving up a little extra protein.

I have a small pitomba tree in a pot in my greenhouse. It's been flowering a lot for nearly 2 months, but it won't set even one fruit, even though I hand pollinate with a small paint brush. Maybe it's too young, or perhaps needs a pollinating companion?
