Thanks for the video. Please what do you add to get that crispy taste especially the ripe ones? Can I use the soft ripe plantains?
@le3mshandmadehaven5 ай бұрын
You are welcome...to get the right level of crispy taste, it depends on the ripeness of the plantain. You don't want a plantain that's too soft/ripe. You should be able to hold your plantain without it melting in your hand. I hope this helps.

@creator. I really love fried ripe plantains and I have been trying to make some at home. Problem is, I feel like the plantain I’m using isn’t as sweet as the plantain chips I buy outside. Also, it’s always soggy, I can’t get it to be hard or crunchy like the ones I buy outside. How hot should the oil be when frying? Do I need to wash the plantain before putting it into the oil? And what’s the name of your slicer so I can look for one to buy?
@le3mshandmadehaven Жыл бұрын
Okay, first the plantain you are using should not be too ripe. When your plantain is too ripe, you end up with soggy plantain. In regards to the oil, it should be hot enough for frying normal plantain because if the oil is not hot, the plantain will soak up the oil while the oil is getting hot. There's no need to wash the plantain. Wash the plantain with the skin on and then peel and slice directly into the hot oil. Slice plantain in very quickly. Thanks for sharing. If I want to add salt to the unripe one at what point should I do that and how? Thanks
@le3mshandmadehaven Жыл бұрын
Try mixing salt and sugar together. You want to add it little by little as it is frying . Add the salt, stir it in properly whike its frying, allow it to fry for a bit, and then add some more. I hope this helps x

Once, you finished slicing the plantain into the oil, after it had fried halfway and when it is almost ready.

The sticky nature could not allow me to slice my ripe plantain like this, why
@le3mshandmadehaven2 ай бұрын
The plantain must have been too ripe.. use plantain that's ripe but not overly ripe. All the best 👍🏾

How do you put spice on the plantain, because I see you’re frying immediately

For the ripe you spice after, it is fried and out of the oil.

@le3mshandmadehavenАй бұрын
Thank you, how Ripe was the plantain you used? The plantain should not be over Ripe and the oil should be hot before putting the plantain in it. It seems like the plantain soaked up a lot of oil.

When frying the ripe, you don't need to add any salt. Except you want it to have that sweet-salty taste. In regards, adding pepper. When you are done frying, and you have aired the plantain a bit while it is still warm, you add the pepper and mix and then allow to complete cool .
