I made it! Its great. Maybe not for extra detailed things since its not as elastic, but using it to cover a bigger surface in the background of my claymation worked great! Thank you

Unfortunately most recipes I have found online have expensive components like beeswax or compounds that are just not available in small quantities to the general public. However, I am working on some new recipes so hopefully I can get them out soon.

I was looking for new plasticine recipe cause beeswax plasticine I've been using is so difficult to work during winter and reheating constantly is extremely time consuming. I will try this one but I will definitely use clay instead of lime. Thanks for the recipe. I hope it works for me🙏

Looks like good plasticine. Does it last without drying out? Looking to do some claymation and it’ll take several weeks to do. I need the plasticine to stay soft. Many thanks
@glowingunknown5625

Yes, plasticine 'never' dries out, due to the oil & other ingredients used. Still, you want to keep it covered and in a cool place when not in use, so it doesn't get dusty or melt.

I don’t think you can get hydrated lime in the US, my friend and I have gone to several stores like Walmart Lowe’s and homedepot looking for it. Is there something else you can use instead of hydrated like? I think it’s heavily regulated in the states
@cosador
@cosador 5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble, from my searches hydrated lime is available at both Lowe's and Home Depot, however they sell it in 50lb bags. Most people recommend to call the store to check availability and you may need adult supervision if you are younger.

How could hydrated lime be regulated in the US? I bought it here in Canada where we have much stricter regulations. We can't buy potasium nitrate, and many other chemicals that are regularly available in the US.

Isn't lime a bit too corrosive for something you're supposed to work with your hands?

Safety is your own responsibility. My suggestion is that you seek out other professional advice as safety and personal sensitivities are simply out of the scope of the video. The question that I asked when making it was "what is lime?" and "what is non-hardening modelling clay made of?". I hope that has given you the resources to make an informed decision. Thanks for your question.

Generally plasticine is lime based and play dough is flour based. I will investigate if I can do otherwise, but I can't promise anything.

At a gardening store. It's used as a soil amendment. You can buy it in bulk 50lbs bags for a good price or smaller amounts like at home depot.

The reason plasticine is better than this substitute is bc it molds easier athigher temperature. It makes it easier to use for art since it solidifies slightly when it cools. This substitute is cool though but it is more expensive than the real thing

@stonehanger99
@stonehanger99 2 жыл бұрын
@@humblehombre9904 Oh wow. I actually don't wear aprons very often, I tend to wear overalls. I don't feel that I am being politically incorrect in any way though, and I definitely haven't forgotten how to be a man. Because I'm a woman. Do you really believe that men who regard women as equal partners, rather than someone they have to be 'responsible' for, as wimpy losers? That is, quite frankly, scary. I guess teaching your sons how to knit is as out of the question as teaching your daughters how to fix a tractor? Thankfully, my parents did not raise me that way, there was plenty of discipline but also respect and a complete lack of gender bias. As a consequence I am completely comfortable with what I am doing now, which is finishing up the drywalling in the house my partner and I have built together. I personally installed all the insulation including in the roof, I have done all the taping, mudding, sanding and painting while my partner (male) did all the plumbing and electrics. Between us we installed every scrap of drywall in the house as well as the tongue and groove vaulted ceiling in the great room. I designed the house, and drew up the plans and I will design all the kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and every other built-in item......which we will build together. I also bake my own bread and do most of the cooking, except breakfast, which my partner cooks. I sew my own overalls. I do the laundry and he maintains all the vehicles and plows the snow. I am also an artist, which is why I was watching this video.....are you interested in art? You don't strike me as an ignorant man....you can string a sentence together and spell. I would love to continue this discussion, I am truly interested in your point of view because it is so different from my experience, but this is not the place.
