@@inthekitchenwithmatt Not just tried them, they are going to become a holiday treat staple on my gifting menu. My husband got to have one as I was wrapping them and he loved it. I have always been intimidated by candy making, which is how my mom made her popcorn balls when I was a kid, so this was a much more "kitchen friendly" option for me to make as well as very nostalgic. This morning the whole corner I keep my treats in smelled like popcorn balls and it was wonderful.

This was a great video, Matt. Every time I hear the words 'popcorn balls', though, it always takes me back 25 years ago when a family member was running for city council. We made 2,000 popcorn balls to pass out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween that year. We worked from 6 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. the next morning making what we thought would take only a few hours to complete. But, we got it done. And, for the first and only time in my 52 years on this planet, it snowed on beggars night and we could only find 9 little beggars in a town that would normally attract hundreds in the neighborhood. It was like being in an episode of The Twilight Zone. So, by the end of the night we still had 1,991 popcorn balls staring all of us in the face. We're thinking, "What the heck are we gonna do with all these things?" The following day, we stood at all four corners of a traffic light passing those popcorn balls out to every car that got a red light. We didn't even say who they were from, nor, asked for a vote because nobody, including the candidate, cared anymore. We just wanted rid of that mountain of popcorn balls. Oh! She did get elected the following week. But, we all sure paid for that election. Whew!

LOL Best story ever, Scott!! haha Seriously, that is a ton of popcorn balls!

@inthekitchenwithmatt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pamela! They are best the day of or the next day. But if wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in an airtight container they will stay fresh for 3 to 4 days. They can also be frozen for a few weeks. If you freeze them, just sit them out at room temp to thaw out before serving. :)

@inthekitchenwithmatt2 жыл бұрын
confectioner's powdered sugar which is the same as icing sugar. And all come from white sugar. Confectioner's sugar is ground up white sugar with a little cornstarch added. Plain powdered sugar or icing sugar is just ground up white sugar with no cornstarch added. Either will work.
