You did a great job. Although, my family from the Azores would make it thicker by mashing some beans into the soup and add pork tail, feet etc. We use collard greens and not Kale. Also, no macaroni! Lol. You can add inhames as well.
@duanenidia-foodtravelandfun3 жыл бұрын
@@davidc8879 Thanks LC! Agree, my Grandmother did use more beans, and definitely did NOT use the macaroni. I think the macaroni was something I started adding when I began making it myself. And yes, I do use collard greens instead of kales, especially in a pinch and when fresh kales are harder to find! Thank you so much for watching! Feel free to share any of our videos with family/friends!

My favorite winter soup! I love your style of cooking Nidia! Like me, always using great additions to your cooking! I too was brought up on Kale..they call it cuves.. maybe not spelt right. As you know my dad was from the Azores and my mom from Holland...well Dutch love their Kale too! My mom used left over mashed potato, cubed sausage, garlic and onion and fried it up in olive oil in a big frying pan then added the chopped Kale. It was delicious! PS, you do so well with your videos, missed your Portuguese here! Thank you for taking the time in making these videos for us who love and appreciate a great wholesome meal!🥰

Ada, you are so welcome and I am so happy you like the videos. This is one of my favorite types of soup to make! I think I may want to try the mashed potatoes, sausage, garlic onion sauteed kale your Mom made! We grow our own kale, so I am usually looking for new ways to use it! That sounds delicious! And you are right, in Portuguese kale is couves!

WOW!! Looks amazing! I love the addition of sweet potatoes and the pork & beans! I’ll have to try that. And you’re so right about kale being a staple in the Portuguese home that I grew up with as well.

@@duanenidia-foodtravelandfun I think Amaral’s Fish and Chips stuffies are my favorite by far.They are located in Warren.I like the ones from David’Fish Market.They are an acquired taste.They are different.Whaler’s are not bad.Lil Audrey’s gourmet stuffies are ok.Scotties Pub also makes an ok stuffie.Hartley’s Pork Pies stuffed quahogs are terrible.dry ,no quahogs and no quahog taste.Ya,Amaral’s stand out amongst a lot of fair quahogs.Their hogs have been written up in Yankee Magazine a number of times.

My grand parents were from Azores. He never made this soup so spicy hot. The linquisa had enough spice. Many cloves of garlic were in the soup. Children would never be a able to eat this. He added kidney beans and tomatoes. I hope people don't think this is what Portuguese really make. This will destroy your stomach. Sad.

This is not a portugeuse kale soup.... Some of the ingredients you added are not in the soup. This is maybe your own style of soup. Im not sure it could even be called kale soup with the addition of cabbage. I see all these videos on kale soup and hardly any of them is the real deal. All these additions... It may be a good tasting soup but you shouldnt call it portuguese. Sopa de couves mainly is what we call it...and im sorry but your recipe is not it.. I subscribed..good job otherwise..
