I remember back then on Tumblr people used to use a picture of either Morrissey, Ian Curtis, or Robert Smith, take a line from one of their band's songs, and then misattribute it to the wrong back. So like take a picture of Morrissey, go into MS paint, quote lyrics over the picture from a Joy Division song, and then say it was The Cure. I remember I did it and some girl was furious over basically what was nothing but a little Tumblr trend by people who wanted to troll fans if goth/post-punk bands. And I'm a fan of all 3 bands myself 😂

It was 1980 and it was minor underground hit in Germany. John Peel played it and the smartasses in NME heard it. Rest is history. New Order is New Wave, not Post-punk.
@rikaisha2 жыл бұрын
@@odeposito9122 you can’t really limit the music by a certain criteria like genre, especially when you’re talking about a band which exists for several decades. And ‘post-punk’ as a criteria is too broad to define in exact terms to describe the sound. It’s more of a direction, not a genre.
@niajefferson7172 жыл бұрын
@@rikaisha That is true; however, every genre -- no matter how vague it is in actuality -- has it's typified version of what it generally sounds like. For example, post-punk became typified somewhere in the early to mid 1980s. An average band playing post-punk would sound somewhat like the video.

@@TheVioletBunny I can try to give the vocals a shot, if you'd like.
