As a salvadoreña I applaud you for trying to make this recipe, my mom own a pupuseria back in El Salvador she’s the pupusas master lol, and let me tell it’s one of the hardest dishes to master! One tip blend your frijoles and when it’s little warm add the cheese and then kneed it together, make the dough a little softer these two trick will help you so they don’t crack. 😉 Thank you for sharing, this is how it should be embracing each others culture!

I love! pupusas my husband is from El Salvador so his mom would make these all the time I would make them every now and then but they were hard to form so I just kept tryin different ways to make it easier for me to form them and finally got it down. You should make your masa softer it is sooo much easier to make them they will not crack like that. Your masa may seem too wet and you may think its too sticky but it’s perfect as we use the oil on our hands too form them the will not stick to your hands at all. Just a little tip 😉 Love all your recipes by the way 😍

I’m Salvadorian and currently learning how to make them from my mom and all I can tell you is when you make the masa, use lukewarm water, not too warm but not too cold. Your masa needs to be soft enough so when you add the filling, it’ll be easier for you to flatten them. If they break, you can easily just close it with the oil like you did on the video as well.

I’m Puerto Rican but I make popusas exactly like this, sometimes I add “chicharon” to the mix but they always come out so good! Great recipe! I learned from a Salvadoran friend as well. But how are you not over weight lol. Your recipes are all amazing! Lol
