I'm so glad it's helpful! To do more letters for a word, etc, it's just a matter of making a template of that word and using the same technique as I did here for the outlines. I also have a second video for making monograms using the embossing technique that may work even better for words because you don't need to worry about transferring a larger quilling off your cork board. ​​@@ThePaperyCraftery Hi Mer. I was doing some quilling yesterday, monogram to be exact. I've come up with an idea during the process. So, the idea was to put pins first😅, then dots of glue and then paper strip outlining the letter. I can say it worked well, it was similar to riding slalom😂. I was doing the letter D and it was quite straightforward. And quicker too😅. Let me know if you've ever tried this method. I could be the only one😂. So basically, I put pins in places where I knew the strip would go, left or right of the strip, curves only on one side (belly of letter D).

Instead of using scissors to trim off the glue globs and risk cutting the paper, you could sand them off with an emery board or run it over sandpaper lightly.

Have been following you for a while now and have always found you have the answers I need. Being me I watched you more recent video on monograms first and now this one. I am wondering what your impression would be of embossing your background, doing the quilling as usual and then transferring it to the embossed back ground??

The only benefit I can think of is that the embossing would allow you to plan where your quilling would end up on your final surface, but I would be afraid that it might not line up perfectly after quilling on your board and then transferring.

How do I know how long of a strip I need for what shape, size etc ... thanks

It’s going to depend on the template you’re using. Once you have that, you can start making your outline with the strips that you like. If you need to add more length, add another strip by joining 2 torn edges for a smooth transition. There’s a point in this video around the middle where I show how to add another strip of you need to.

The examples I made for this project are about 4 inches tall by 3 inches wide, but as I show, you can make templates to be the size you need 😁
