What you're doing is amazing. A lot of tutorials on youtube cut corners or gatekeep certain things. But watching you produce from scratch helps with sound design, arrangement and a lot of other post production stuff. You're a great teacher. Keep it up mate..

Thanks, its all about that, the hardest/best is finding the right balanced between experimenting but also not always experimenting to be able to get the track move forward...

That's absolutely amazing, great work and thank you for showing how you work! One question - how do you manage to not have the whole mix drown in mud from all the reverb and delays from the individual sounds (besides sidechaining)? I always try to use as little reverb and delay as insert fx as possible. Usually I use 4 send fx (2 reverbs, one short and one long and 2 delays with different but fitting rhytms) with ms eq and side chain and only use those to create a coherent mix within the stereo field. When I first started I used reverbs and delays as inserts on every sound and my mixes were always muddy as hell, elements disappeared, weird stuff happened. They never worked in a club, my mixes weren't clean enough and sounded shitty How do you manage to create such a thick atmosphere instead of mud and nasty artefacts? Thanks mate!

Sorry for the basic answer but it’s about balance, small decay for reverb, small feedback for delay, and small dry/wet amount, then sound selection is important, making sure each element you put together have each their space in terms of of frequency (like avoid two synth that cover the same frequency range). You have exceptions ofc, don’t take this advice too seriously but often you can reduce a bit of reverb amount or reverb decay here and there, maybe cut some frequency here and there, little adjustments everywhere

Great video. I really enjoyed it, informative and helpful! I do think the kick is lacking, there is some problem there with the transient, didn't like that part so much. not so tight.. but okay, perhaps a style choice.
@audioreakt
@audioreakt 6 ай бұрын
thanks, I think I know what you mean, it lack punch and raw. that was intended I really wanted a kick that is close to a 808 but not as round, more like a kick in between a 808 and 909, more like something round like a 808 but also that get a bit of the punch of a 909...hard to explain but it's always hard to balanced and usually you cannot get something round and super punchy in the same time you always have to choose one or the other

is that High Pass filtering on Kick at 1:47 always necessary? I see it in every producing tutorial people using it, but I also see every producer channel warn that doing steep slope cuts on Ableton EQ Eight creates phase issues and artifacts in the low end. So now I don't know when to use it and when not to
@audioreakt
@audioreakt 2 ай бұрын
I do that for sound design purpose, I don't do it all the time but sometime yes because sometimes it make the kick tighter but also just simply better. I don't do that as mixing purpose to cut the low end or what ever.. now about phase and everything, use your ear before anything else...if it's sound good, I don't care it alter the phase bring artefact, if for me it sounds good, it's good. now if I do that and werid thing happen yes maybe it's a problem.. in a nutshell, don't try to fix something that is not broken...

Hey love your videos!!! Out of interest what's your spec on your Mac? I'm away to but a new Max Studio but not sure if it might be over kill
@audioreakt
@audioreakt 5 ай бұрын
I got a mac studio m2 max 64gb but it's overkill for music production, i bought it because I edit video and this is a beast to edit 4k videos...check online but i think even the M1 is overkill if you just do music production
А я думаю что за звук такой знакомый? 😂😂😂
