If your grass is not visible in Arnold, go to your xgen description like in the vid, go to Preview/Output tab and in output settings select Arnold Renderer. Scroll a bit further down and in Arnold settings click "Apply Hair Shader". Save entire maya project, close, open again.

You made a mistake there. You are using 2 HDRI unknowingly. If you added an aiSKydome then go to the attribute down to the visibility, put the value for the camera to 1. The way right now the skydome is giving you light and you get the same light from the render settingsmenu which will cause you the noise.

Hi, your Question is not so clear to me but let me try. If you mean that you want to keep the grass same & don't want variation in length then simply don't put any expression in it & use the slider. (in this case, you might also want to keep your ground flat) If you want a certain pattern or length gradient then try some 'sample expressions' do this - .click on little down arrow which is on right side of the slider - go to load expression - samples, now try different samples & choose the one you want. (you can also edit these in editor) you can also click 'Create Map' and then paint your weights for length. I hope this is what you were asking, feel free to ask if you face any further issue.

Hi, since created my grass is totally white even in the render :c you know what can be? textures and materials are enabled :was the lighting of my scene, is a little bit dark and colors are not showed for some reason :/

Glad you found out the issue. I also face many random errors when using Xgen. That's why i like to save my scene after every little progress. 😂

Hey, when you create a new Description in Xgen. Make sure u select Expressions not spline or anything else. Then it should work unless there's a bug somehow.

Hi, I would suggest you to make a new project and start fresh from there. sometimes if you miss something and try to correct it again and again it creates issues. If you encounter the same problem again, mention your Maya version and if you face some error on script editor when rendering.

Hi, can you elaborate your question? like what version of maya you are using & what are you trying to do specifically. - If what you are trying to do is assign a material on your xgen collection, simply go to outliner select the "Description" & right click then assign a new material. 👍

@@CGFamilyStudio I have got it. Mental Ray was my default render engine that's why i didn't got diffuse option in Attribute editor. I have to change renderer to Arnold to get that option.

Hi, i feel the issue is regarding a corrupt setting in xgen. Do you see some error when you open the maya also? in any case i think it will solve if you reset your maya settings. Do this - - go to your my documents folder -Locate Maya Folder and open it - choose the folder of the version you are having issues with - Delete the folder & then start Maya again. (you can also just delete the maya folder in documents if you don't have anything specific stored in there) hopefully it will solve the problem. :)

Hello again, i did a little 🕵️‍♂️ research around the internet and found this article on Autodesk forums. forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-modeling/xgen-error/td-p/5715576 What it means for you is that, if your issue turns out to be the same - it might be due to the name you have set for your PC user. i suggest going through it. Tell me if it helps! 👍

my density is at 300 and its not that dense

Xgen is tricky when you start to use it for the 1st time. The density can also be affected by the scale of your model. If the model is bigger/scaled UP or your metrics are in meter, then you have to pump those values in xgen Up too! Hope that helps. 👍
