Thanks for watching! Creating terrain can be intimidating, especially if you're starting out, but I love the inspiration it can create for players and that it lets you explore gameplay ideas. My advice would be to start with something simple that's fast to make. These Quick-Caves are something I still use in my setups to date kzbin.info/www/bejne/kH_Ed4OCrMaYrc0

What an absolutely amazing Swamp Tree! I was literally starstruck seeing you make that big tree just with some cut foam and superglue. Definately going to try THAT! The Leaf Litter is such a good idea! I was really in the works to buy some of those pre-cut litterboxes you can get online, but this seems so much cheaper and better! Just a quick question: What brand are your acrylics? I looked for Burnt Umber and found brands like Vallejo offering entire bottles of them. What would you recommend? I personally make my Moss by BLENDING Army Painter Flock and actual Moss. The Moss that is not entirely blended will have little tendrils sticking out, while the real flock will fill the edges and bumps, creating a really nice texture to it.
@Atmoseeker
@Atmoseeker 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yeah that hot glue texture has been my go-to for bark. The acrylics i've been using are mostly dollar/craft store paints. It's a mix of brands in this build, but lately it's been 'Americana' or 'DecoArt'. A US equivalent might be a brand like 'Applebarrel'.

Hey Sebastian, don't you use any sealant to fix dead leafs and foliage once it's glued down ? I find my sceneries to be to fragile and sprikling it's foliage quite easily when minis walks around it. Any tips / advices ?
@Atmoseeker

Some spray varnish usually does the trick for me, but I have seen people use some watered down PVA for sealant. Terrain tutor has some videos on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3OoZWSdg8SWeMU

This was a great tutorial and after a long time of searching a one that is finally leaving out all that "cover everything in DIY washes bull shit" and "mix every color by yourself bull shit" and "100% Styrofoam build to instantly look like a styrofoam build and to avoid any natural material bullshit". (Sorry about my frustration I just can't watch that things anymore...) You did everything right! The pieces look totally professional in the end. You use colors that have a name (There is a reason why painters use these paints all the time). The presentation and mood of the vid is excellent. Everything is shown within an appropriate amount of time, you just show the important stuff. Florists wire maybe could be changed by aluminium foil to make the build a little faster?
@Atmoseeker
@Atmoseeker 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for watching! Yes editing is important, I just want to show the meat of the video (in more recent videos on the channel I try to keep them in the 5-10 minute range.) Great idea to use foil as an alternative for having texture on wire for the thicker branches. Florists wire was something I had on hand from the original craft.

Hey Sebastian ! Saw a lot of people making their scenery on MDF bases but the cutting phase is just so annoying... Will give a shot to foamcore bases like you did here, seems so much easier ! Just a little question : isn't it way more fragile in the end ? Ground texture might help harden it a bit tho ? Thanks for the inspiration !
@Atmoseeker
@Atmoseeker 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I don't have the tools for MDF bases, but have found that foamcore (with paper on both sides) is plenty sturdy, especially after using some sculptamold and modpodge. I've actually dropped them a few times (because I'm a huge klutz) and they're totally fine. It's true the MDF bases might be a bit stronger and add some weight, but it's not like we're throwing these things around the room.
