I did an experiment with the lentil batter. I poured it into cupcake tins and put them in a steamer. They fluffed up beautifully and were ready in 15 minutes. I had them for breakfast with some eggs. It was amazing. Lentils are amazing. I also found that this produced an awesome bowel movement...sorry for this detail...but for those who have trouble with this, take note! 😆

Fantastic idea, can you please share with us your recipe in detail. Thank you 👋
@FarmanF.O3 жыл бұрын
@@jassonjasson7418 It depends on ur taste & time spending on preparation. I what I do now has evolved with the time while started reading about each of these ingredients (I have heart issue & hypothyroidism so I'd be careful with what I put in y body). I don't measure how much of each of the ingredients I put, but mainly red lentils (or chickpeas) plus quinoa. I add pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, chia seeds black seeds, ground almond, (I know it's lots of fat but all r healthy ones). Herbs & spices: thyme, coriander seed, fennel, cumin, caraway, cloves & cardamom (I grind them myself), thyme , nettle, dried coriander leaves, turmeric powder (must with some black pepper) & ground ginger (or ground cinnamon). I soak lentils & quinoa over night (or chickpeas for 2 days) with added salt (water needs changing every 7- 8 hrs). And soak the seeds separately for minimum of 4 hrs (plz check the web for recommendations). Chia seeds don't need soaking of course When they are ready I put the lentils (or chickpeas) with the quinoa in the blender & add water accordingly. Once it is like a liquidy paste then I add the seeds (seeds need less time & also if they put alone as they turn to oil then u have to add more water). Once done, I add it into a bowel & add the herbs & spices. If it turns out too liquidy u can add ground almond & chia seeds at this stage or just grind some quinoa & add it into it. - Soaking isn't important only for the blender, but it rids off the phytic acid & toxins in seeds & nuts. - I make enough of this "dough paste" for 3-4 days & put it inn the fridge. You can google every & each of these ingredients for understanding their benefits. - I soak walnuts, Brazil nuts & cashews, dry them & roast them to have them with meals (I eat only twice or some days only once because I do intermittent fasting) Food is Medicine in need.

There's a supermarket chain here in South Africa that gives out stickers in the last couple of months of the year. Twenty stickers allows you to buy one of several items on their year-end promotion. This year I bought the _ultimate_ non-stick frying pan. I bought it for omelettes but I reckon it would be _amazing_ for these flatbreads. I'm going to try it - I went off bread for weight loss and gluten and stuff and I _miss_ my bread. Also, I _want_ to eat more lentils!

Just witnessed to your Lentil recipe & I've named it as 'Daal Roti' (i.e. lentil bread)! BTW, I'm going to add some green chili paste with this to make it hot & spicy! Thank you both from Bangladesh.

I made these last night and cant believe how amazing they turned out, so delicious and very good quality wrap they have a bit of stretch so no tearing or splitting from my generous wrap stuffings 👍🏻
@teresalokmane8179 Жыл бұрын
Great to hear! Exactly! When they're fresh and warm they don't break or tear and can hold all sorts of goodies. Feel free to put in fresh herbs, spices and other tasty ingredients to change up the flavor. Enjoy!

This was the comment I was looking for. Do you think this would hold up as a wrap for a burrito?
@teresalokmane8179 Жыл бұрын
@@GpD79 absolutely! We've made wraps and burritos with them and they're great. Need a large pan to ensure you get a burrito sized flatbread. Enjoy!
@GpD79 Жыл бұрын
@@teresalokmane8179 Thank you for the reply! Yes, I too was thinking that I would just need to use a larger pan to get a big enough wrap for a burrito. If not, I can always use the small wraps for soft shelled tacos! I bet the addition of cilantro would be great!
@teresalokmane8179 Жыл бұрын
@@GpD79 Absolutely and YES cilantro is fantastic in the wraps. Gives it a cool color too 👍🏼👍🏾

These look great, I've just switched to veganism but am intolerant to wheat, soya & nutritional yeast, so I'm always on the hunt for quick healthy recipes made from lentils etc, & which are adaptable. I love that the soaked lentils can stay in the fridge until I want to use them, so convenient!
@teresalokmane81793 жыл бұрын
Ah okay great! Yes, that’s difficult with those restrictions but that’s why these are so awesome! Honestly Teresa always has soaked lentils in the fridge to make a quick flatbread. We hope you enjoy your new journey and this recipe 😀

Can't wait to make these to try with my red lentil hummus! I can't believe I just found this recipe today. Have you ever tried adding herbs such as garlic/basil/thyme/etc to one of these wraps to make an herb red lentil wrap?
@teresalokmane8179 Жыл бұрын
Great - they’re perfect for a spread like hummus! Oh yes - we love to add fresh garlic and ginger. Or another favorite is thyme. But really any herb you like will be a great addition!! Enjoy
