Hey Steve, I was wondering how do you avoid media slipping and ink smearing.?
@betobeto79037 ай бұрын
I just done 5k 4"x4" labels and had to perf cut and weed out each one as individual labels. You gave me a great idea just to print and weed out without the pert cut each one which would need to weed each one out. The next project will just print as long as possible and weed out a large sheet and do what you are doing. Thanks for the great advice!! Just wondering, do you ever have issues with the double-sided tape sticking to the smooth side of the release liner?
@stevethegraphicsguy7 ай бұрын
Nice, I’m glad it helped! I’ve only had issues with the tape when using an air egress film. With using substance non air egress it works great so far!

I did something similar once with our HP Latex 335. We didn't have a sticker printer and customer wanted it on a roll. The reason I say once is that it was a long process to do 1,000 stickers, so the next time I outsourced, lol. Thanks for sharing, great tip for anyone who doesn't have a sticker printer.

I really enjoy your content. How did you remove the matrix after kiss cutting the row of labels?
@stevethegraphicsguy7 ай бұрын
Thanks! I just pulled them off by hand. Usually do two or three strips at a time

Great videos! Rather than using a summa or cutting the rolls by hand can they be through-cut/ perf-cut on the graphtec plotter? Similarly to how pop out decals are made?
@stevethegraphicsguy2 ай бұрын
Yes, absolutely! I haven’t used my graphtec much since the summa came. For me the summa is so much more accurate so it gets the most attention

What is the easiest way to cut the cores down cleanly?
@stevethegraphicsguy7 ай бұрын
I use a miter saw. It’s not perfectly clean as a core cutter would be but it’s decent enough. I just run my hand over the edges afterwards and it removes the dust and parts that didn’t cut great. I’ve also used a small bandsaw at that works great too, but hard to keep a square cut.

Nice, I have a summa d140, flatbed would be sweet. I do moto and sled wraps and to cut through the backing would be nice. Once my stickers are contour cut/kiss cut. I cut them by hand with a ruler.
@stevethegraphicsguy7 ай бұрын
Nice! I started with just a plotter for about 7 years before I got the flatbed. It was certainly a dream to get one and it’s helped so much with production being able to do new things, speed up the process and great quality in finishing.

hey man, I just got my bn20a . What can you suggest I do to get started with my printing business? focus on many services or a few printing options? I wanted to start with stickers/decals for cars. How do you start offering for signage for store fronts etc?
@stevethegraphicsguy7 ай бұрын
Hey that’s awesome! At first I would take any job you can to get the income flowing, but don’t get too over your head with how much you can handle. I’d start with the car decals and do a really good job and let your friends/clients speak about your work. You’ll get great word of mouth business and you eventually be asked to do larger projects. There are plenty of trade only printers that will help you if you get a big job that you can’t handle producing yourself. Watch a lot of videos and ask questions! Thats how I learn. I hope this helps

I would think that outsourcing it would be much more profitable. As a 2X business owner, my time is worth a lot. I think spending even one hour doing this would throw all of my profit out the window. And I do get your thoughts on keeping it in-house for the quality and such. But I would only do this for very few customers who are giving me a ton of work outside of this specific item.
@stevethegraphicsguy6 ай бұрын
I hear ya! Our time is most valuable but no profit is lost because we build labor hours into each job.

Roll printers are fairly cheap in the used market. And you can use plotter to cut out the shapes. Might open up a new market.

@stevethegraphicsguy7 ай бұрын
Nope! It’s not fed into a machine it’s just that the customer likes them in roll form. If it was going into a machine I’d have to outsource.

@stevethegraphicsguy7 ай бұрын
Doesn’t seam like a lot of work to me and I really don’t do roll labels often enough to purchase a printer just for that
@brotherernest59937 ай бұрын
Agreed, I have an Epson S80600 and for some reason, customers want Bopp labels. Also, I haven’t found a good solution to print on Bopp Labels with eco solvent, thus my Epson c7500G. However, you’ll need a 15k finisher to precut the shapes or you’re waiting on hicks labels to precut shapes. Huge investment but the speed of a dedicated Bopp label printer is unmatchable. Thanks for the video and keep on printing😊
