How to Make Rolled Denim Fabric Beads Tutorial

Learn how to make rolled fabric beans out of old denim jeans! You can use any fabric that has a bit of weight to it. I forgot to mention, that if you want to avoid stray threads, you can lightly coat the back of the fabric with watered down school glue, let it dry, and then cut your strips.
I cut all different types of strips in various lengths and widths to achieve different looks.

GREAT idea! As ranchers, we have a LOT of used denim .... that I have been saving for something. (I call it saving, my daughters call it hoarding! LOL). I REALLY liked the idea of adding my specialty thread to the outsides - - that is really intriguing. A suggestion for a sealer is the cheap glitter fingernail polish from dollar tree stores also (I learned from a bead rolling site - - have not actually tried, but it looked substantial, especially considering that denim is cotton and extremely absorbent, having been worn and washed so often,)

Definitely saving and not hoarding! 😊 I have tried nail polish on paper beads and it works great! I have not tried on denim.

A glue stick works for securing the ends. It easily pulls apart if you decide to change size of bead.

I’m an David paper beaded and although I like triple thick I agree that even paper beads tend to be flexible. Thanks for the glue tip will definitely try. Good recycling project.

teresa johnson it's a kind of glaze and it's very thick. You would paint it on with a brush. It would be good for other projects, but not as a fabric bead sealer.

I just tried this and they are incredibly rough to the touch after being sealed. I don’t think they would be comfortable on a piece of jewelry

You lightly use the glue , fabric glue or basting or adhesive spray if you don't want stray thread handing or frays.

Yes, they do become hard. I’ve seen people coat the back of their fabric with glue before cutting to keep the edges from fraying. You could try that if you wanted a soft bead without frayed edges. 😊

Annie Wall - Perhaps your screen was in power saving mode? Mine gets dim on my laptop when it's not plugged in. I also noticed on my iPhone that the screen automatically adjusts according to lighting conditions. In any case, I'm sorry you had a hard time viewing the video.
