Just a heads up for everyone, there are two major types of rubber, urethane and silicone rubbers. Each one has pros and cons but silicone is more expensive. One advantage to silicone is that you do not need a mold release from most materials. Urethane on the other hand will stick tenaciously to most everything. An example of this is if you painted urethane on real tree bark without ALOT of mold release/vaseline you will peel the bark off with the rubber. If you painted silicone rubber onto tree bark, then it would come off relatively easy

How is an actual/ real tree / bark prepared to place the rubber on? Is there a release agent that needs to be applied prior?
@fauxrock23 күн бұрын
As a very good question and at the same time, it’s very difficult to get dried rubber off of a wooden tree bark. The best thing to do is to clean the bark is clean as you can get it. Let it dry seal it with an acrylic sealer about five different coats. Let each coat dry in between then I usually put on 20 coats of a release agent and let each coat dry in between and even then it takes some towel powder to get the rubber to come off once it’s dry, and even then you still have tree bark stuck into your rubber that you’ve got a tool out of the rubber. It’s a little bit of fun to say the least thanks for watching my video

So, is the first mixed container for just the first coat? Is it one container per coat (32 oz. of each part)? Thanks!
@fauxrock Жыл бұрын
Well, that depends on the size of the item that you’re making the first coat could be much less than one full 32 oz container or it could be several 32 ounce containers for the first coat on an item. Thanks for watching.
