To make this adult fancy… use a splash of caramel extract and a splash of bourbon (when making the caramel sauce. Use dark chocolate 70% chips (Trader Joes has them) for the choco layer. Pecans and a sprinkle of Himalayan salt like you suggested brings out the above flavors. It’s stellar.

Will be trying this next week. Was gonna do this weekend but I fear if I do it this weekend, it will all be gone by Christmas. I don't want that lol. I LOVE saltine crackers, I LOVE caramel (I know this is toffee, but still similar to caramel) and I LOVE chocolate. I messed it up because i forgot what caramel looks like and there was a picture included in the recipe that i was looking at and I assumed it was what the crackers should look like before to go to the oven (when actually it was what they look like after you added chocolate). So I thought i had to put a whole lot of brown sugar on the crackers, and then when the 1 cup of the recipe wasn't enough, I assumed that I had more crackers than the people in the recipe so I added two cups of brown sugar and butter. Then after obviously I made it burn, it was all black. Okk i never bake i was trying to do smt for my roommates 😭😭 second attempt today lol with a video to help this time

I didn't get my pan non-stick enough, so mine was all broken up. Still tastes awesome though. I used crushed candy canes and mini m&ms. I am going to make it for a work thing. This was a tester, so now I can make it better and more uniform.

@@Maryzees1 no it didn’t on mine, I just forgot to put the crackers and toffee for 5 minutes after putting the toffee on the crackers! LoL I did however use the mini semi sweet chip and they melted really well and fast. My first time making this, it made a whole lot! Merry CHRISTmas!!

Great recipe! I recommend melting the chocolate aside and not directly over the toffee cracker sheet. When I followed your instructions directly, my chocolate ships just cooked and were not spreadable. I used milk chocolate Hershey brand. Did anyone else have this issue?

Hi Melissa! Others have had this issue, and its usually from using a low-quality chocolate. I recommend using a higher quality chocolate like Ghirardelli, or you can melt the chocolate in the microwave first. I go over this in more detail in the blog post.

This turned out delicious years ago but I lost my recipe and I can't tell what the difference is. Nobody gives size of the cookie sheet. I used a 17X13 and didn't seem like there was enough toffee. Think I'd either use a smaller cookie sheet or increase the amount of brown sugar and butter.
