Thank you, just made the recipe and I only had 3 cups of chick pea flour. Used 3 Tablespoons of oil, 185ml water, 1,5t salt amd ,25t white chilli powder. I would have liked it stronger and saltier so the next time I make it i will use 2,5t salt and ,75ml white chili powder. I divided the dough into two thirds for sev and one third with the papdi gathiya plate and added 1 tablespoon crushed Kasuri Methi. All in all thank you again for the inspiration and wife is impressed. I now will try your other recipes. Is your measuring cup metric or USA? I fried them for a minute each side at a temperatute between 160 and 170 deg C

Wow! That was quick! Well done!! And yes, go ahead and adjust the flavours to how you like it, as everyone's taste varies. I like the idea of adding kasturi methi for the ghatiya and will have to try that! I'm glad your wife was impressed! My husband and my sons like to cook for me also and they make all kinds of dishes, so I love that you are cooking for your wife. Please check out my other videos, as I try to explain as much as possible. As for my measures, when I mention Cup measures, I am using the USA cups. I hope that helps! And great job!!

Ma'am can we use a piping bag inside of machine to make sev? Thk you
@MilhaanHome Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking. If you want to put the piping bag inside the Sev machine, just make sure the bag is folded over the lid of the Sev machine so it allows the mixture to get out. Sev is very fine threads, thinner than spaghetti. So if you have a piping bag attachment that allows you to make it, go ahead and try it😊
@joliving6837 Жыл бұрын
@@MilhaanHome sorry couldn't explain...I meant substituting the machine with the piping bag...fill the bag with the mixture n squeeze it to make the nimko...:-))
@MilhaanHome Жыл бұрын
@@joliving6837 Thank you for clarifying. I don’t think this will work unless you want to make a single thread of Sev at a time..,this will take very long! And you will need to add more water to the dough to make it a bit softer and easier to squeeze through. Sorry. The only alternative I can think of is squeezing the dough through a sieve to make fine threads on some grease-proof paper, then tipping it into the oil carefully to fry it. I know in india, they have metal plates with holes and they squeeze the dough through that directly into the oil and make Sev. It’s a bit tricky though. 😊

Hi! I look forward to making sev but I am afraid here in Argentina I will not find the sev machine. Any advice? Maybe a pastry bag with punctured nozzle? Could that work? ...
@MilhaanHome4 ай бұрын
Hi! I think maybe try a sieve or colander with small holes and push the dough through by hand or with a spoon. A nozzle will take a long time. I hope that helps!

Where do you buy white chili powder from? That’s a first for me
@MilhaanHome4 жыл бұрын
Great question! I buy it from the Indian shop. But if you have a hard time finding it, you can use red chilli powder. White chilli powder is finer, has no colour and the flavour is slightly different. That's why I use it.

If you have an Indian shop in South Africa that sells Indian utensils, they should have it. Or you can use my link on my USA store on my website Milhaan.com and get it shipped to SA.
