Do you want to know how to make shadow work easy? The number 1 mistake people make on the spiritual path or in self-development is to only focus on the light.
Only trying to become enlightened, thinking positive thoughts and only reframing every situation. They forget the darkness that is also part of them. And this creates a lot of problems!
But most people make the process really complicated. Most of the time they lack a simple paradigm to do shadow work. In the video, I show you the hidden secret to make shadow work easy and teach you two practical shadow work techniques.
These techniques are really powerful. They will help you integrate your shadow on a much deeper level. Try them out and let me know in the comments below what you think :)

@@msfoster2468 what do you tell someone whom you love ? Definitely, you appreciate her beauty, apart from affirming I love you. You feel her worth more than anything else. You feel her being loved unconditionally. So, she feels safe in disclosing her every aspect without any fear of being hated. The more you know, the more the gratitude she feels through you. Gratitude overwhelms you and you will be taken away, disappeared completely. So, one your dark aspect becomes the brightest inner Light.

Thank you for this! You are awesome! Five steps: 1. Use paper or a Word doc. 2. List shadow aspects of yourself to integrate. 3. Open a new doc. Choose one of the subjects and begin writing from the shadow, the pain, sadness, anger you've been repressing your whole life. No place to have a filter. Write down all these dark thoughts. Feel not enough, like a victim, judge other people, hate on people, things, frustration. Go into the darkness, into your sorrow, anger, sadness. Cry if you need to. At some point you'll feel you're done, you've given a voice to this part of yourself. Realize you're still a good person. These things you've written are not necessarily true, just true for the part of yourself that is based on fear. 4. Send love to this part of yourself that you've just expressed. 'In the name of the universe, and my higher self and unconditional love I now send my love to this part I just expressed.' Feel that love. Visualize your shadow merging with love. Make it overflow. Be there for that part of yourself that you've been repressing and that is now out in the open. 5. Delete the entry you've just made from your computer, phone, or throw away the paper. You've brought it out in the open, you've sent it your love and now it's time to let it go. The energy just moved through you and now you can set it free. You've integrated it or at least integrated a little bit more. Now you can release it to the universe.

It sounds like she suffered Childhood Emotional Neglect. When we experience CEN, and aren't aware of it -- when we bury those experiences -- we often reenact those patterns with our own kids. It's something that can be worked on, but it takes time, effort, and self compassion. It's worth it.

This is very good advice, I coincidentially started shadow journalling today. But I think some aspects of the shadow need to be shown to the public rather than erased, they need to be turned in to artwork as information for the surrounding culture, in order to bring awareness around issues that are being suppressed by the society but that need to come to light to help people understand better and evolve.

Shadow art can be highly expressive and intensely emotional. My grandfather was an artist and there are a series of self-drawings in which he places his shadow, titled Self with Shadow. He also painted himself as The Prodigal Son Coming Home. The latter is like releasing his shadow, like destroying the journal, burning the paper, To put ones emotions into words and into paintings is a great challenge for any artist because true feelings and true emotions lie deeper than words. To achieve this creates some of the best works.

I have a tip for you. I had this same problem. I faced this when i first started. If you are into meditation, you know that when you mindful or calm there is a presence which you know is the real you? Have you experienced this? The problem why it feels really bad is when we do shadow work, the pain body sometimes is too strong and when we open it the emotions can take over us and we forget that pain body is US. Its like another person living inside us, its part of us, but its not us. This awareness is necessary during shadow work. Namaste 🙏

1. Love and accept your Shadow 2. Acknowledge your Shadow 3. Don't be afraid of your Shadow, be attracted to it - Like it has a pot of Gold 4. When you Shadow covers you in a dark cloud, Love that part of you 5. Let repressed emotions out by writing about your shadow 6. Integrate your Shadow with yourself by holding it 7. The shadow is full of Negativity this part of you developed to keep you safe as child. Let it go... See Disney 'inside out'

Expressive journalling is a reasonable way to access and resolve past issues but the shadow is unconscious. You cannot see it. This is work, but shadow work is much much more painful. Its something you struggle to even see in yourself. The things you even dare to think. To individuate is to manifest the parts of you which you dont even kbow exist. If you are passive. Learn to be violent. If you are scared, burn it through by beccoming couragious and facing your fears. Expressive writing is one piece of the puzzle, a very powerful piece. The key is. Going to the places you are scared of most both psychologically and physically. Although 'love' is not the answer in this case. Resentment, shame and anger are other gateways.

It seems that by definition my shadow is the tough side of me...I don’t like how it is but at the same time I do...when I was 8 years old, I had an accident...or my bully went too far and caused severe damage physically...this is when my other side took over and was the one who absorbed all the abuse I received from the school staff at that time. I don’t remember those people..only flashes of their faces as they tried to get me convinced I looked this way already and their panic as I sat for 2 hours with my mouth busted up..’my nose broken, my cheekbone crushed...and finally my mom was called and I was told to shut the hell up with the crying! This side of me is everything I’m not. It protects me from these memories and the traumatic events I’ve witnessed throughout life..I can’t understand the evil in the world but that side of me may not understand fully but understands it’s role to survive in the world. When something triggers it’s awakening, I can feel it waking up. I love this side of me but I’m afraid of it as well. I’ve always replied, I’m not afraid of anything but myself. I may be 5’ tall but when that side is awake size doesn’t matter, I will fight the biggest one and if I go down, I go down fighting. I understand the purpose of why it was created. When someone starts talking about something I don’t remember about the accident or similar, I know it because I can feel it waking up to cause me to back away and not remember. It protects me. Self preservation and idk if I would want that side to change or disappear or even merge with who I am when it’s asleep. Sounds insane I’m sure but now that I’ve faced it, I understand it’s purpose and can control it easier. I warn people ahead of time that my other side isn’t very nice and it’s wanting to wake up and handle the problem at hand...meaning back off or u won’t like what I have to say or do. Shadow..is that what it is? My shadow self?

That's really beautiful, thank you for sharing I would call this an aspect, or a fragment. As children, encountering ANY traumatic experience can cause us to fragment and create.. almost a "different personality". Even something that to an adult seems like nothing, like having a special toy taken away. It's totally natural, and it's the way the psyche protects itself. Every fragment has your best interest in mind (even though some of them might seem to sabotage you at times). You're really in tune to yourself to be able to tell when this fragment wants to appear....! Next time it makes sense to allow for it, express this fragment when it is triggered in the way that's suggested here. You don't have to 'rid' yourself of this part of you in any way. That's the reverse of what it is crying out for. So you would express the muckiest of the darkness from this place. But then when you're all done, you can also list all of the positive aspects that you love about it, thereby amplifying those. You can think of the shadow as a big closet you keep all your unconscious fragments hidden away in. Every fragment within the shadow is there to help you become whole. So through allowing them to express freely, as you show them your love, they will automatically begin to come out in more conscious ways that have your highest good in mind. There is no need to exert any will to change them. They change through mere observation. Welcome them home and they will show up as the beautiful parts of the Self that you are. 🥰 I'm sending you so much love 💓💚💓

Hey beautiful heart. I find this years after you post it but happy that you shared this info. My problem is this and no one in the comment section that I could find asked this. How do you conjure up feelings of love when you’re at the bottom? I love my children more than anything and my cats! But when I’m in the dark of it NOTHING and I mean nothing allows me to feel The healing power of Love. How do you fake that. That would make this process much simpler for me.

I have a question: so integrating the shadow, to me, means letting it live as a part of your consciousness. Accepting it, embracing it, welcoming out of the depths of a deep soul-dungeon. So you tell it, “I love you, you’re a part of me, thank you for holding all that scary stuff for so long”. Do I have it right so far? If so, then releasing it into the universe, as you say, seems contradictory to me. That’s like another form of banishment, it seems. Why release it when it contains your power? For instance, I feel that rage and anger when integrated, gets channeled (or, transmuted, to use your word from a previous video) into passion, drive and assertiveness and creativity when integrated into your consciousness. It’s a good thing to keep! Please explain like I’m 5 so I understand.
@robhulson

I would ask the same thing. In my own shadow work, I realized some of the darkness needs to be dispelled. For example, I could not differentiate between ANGER and RAGE. I’ve come to realize that anger is not bad; it’s a warning bell to me that a boundary violation has occurred. It’s not a good impulse to ACT on when in an angry state. But the anger itself is GOOD. Revenge is not. Revenge is the part that must be let go, and by doing the shadow work, I came to find Anger as a friend, and separated Revenge from Anger. Perhaps Rage is another feelings that can be split, and Courage might be found in it. The Shadow is the unrefined parts of yourself you haven’t separated, sifted, or processed. Once you do the work to liberate a part of yourself from the Shadow, it’s a welcomed part of yourself and therefore not in the Shadow any longer. Life seems to work best when we _voluntarily_ enter the Shadow to redeem parts of ourselves.

One of my strongest component of my shadow is anger, specifically towards situations or people who make me lose time due to inneficient actions or inncompetitive skills, whenever I reach any call Center for assistance, and the operator tends to act clumsy or doesnt seem to understand or care about my problem, my inner anger increases. I've come to accept that part of my shadow, I cannot stop or deny my anger towards those kind of situations, but when accepting your shadow you become aware of those negative feelings PRIOR you make any ACTION. Having that said, I still can get angry, but my actions and speech does not follow that, rather I understand there's going to be people in different situations than mine, that impairs the capacity to do their job accordingly to what I expect (or what anyone expects). The problem still exists: many call service agents are useless, but I dont let my anger consume me when dealing them.

If you send love to your shadow, and integrate the aspects/characteristics on it that you have ignored or repressed for years, you won´t judge that much those characteristics as something negative, but accept them as part of yourself. The curious part is that if you accept that you are not perfect and that you have a dark part, you can use it on your favor, instead of ignoring it, it will give you power and confidence. If you keep hiding a part of yourself, in some scenarios you will feel afraid or unconfortable, probably leading you to private yourself from some experiences just to not feel unconfortable. ´´Release it´´ doesn´t mean dissapearing it, but releasing those characteristics from the negative definition we have about them, and accept them as part of ourselves. This also will lead us to be less judgy with other people.

I can't agree: Not being loved is connected to Sadness/loss and the Lover aspect of the self (not fear). Fear is the Magician energy. Judgements are (Introjects) given by others. There are no negative emotions. All emotions have a message and we need to get he message else it becomes louder and more debilitation. If you had no fear - you would be dead (because you would not bother looking left or right before you crossed the road).

People can judge themselves. There absolutely are negative emotions. There are cases of people who can not experience fear. Yet they are living. What if it isn't that you fear death but that you enjoy life and that's why you look left AND right before you cross the road.

Thank you for the video! I've been searching for a simple shadow work breakdown. You said we should find topics/aspects to write about in open speech journaling; how exactly do we find these individual shadow aspects. How do we give them names?

I'm a year later so you might have figured it out already but through projections, emotional triggers, patterns and introspection is how you find them.

The shadow is the garbage of the unconscious. It contains the repressed instincts, emotions, feelings, complexes, traits, etc. that one rejects about one's self or that were rejected by others. The shadow is mostly formed by primal repression. At the bottom of the unconscious is the primal wound, which is the root cause of all suffering. The primal wound is the fear of non being. The easiest way to integrate one's shadow is to not analyze it with one's head, or to try to "form a relationship" with it. One simply accepts it. Then one needs to purge the contents of the shadow with a deep breathing and emotional release technique. The way you get rid of the fear is to face it, feel it, and release it. This process takes many years if not decades. The amount of garbage in the shadow is enormous. However, like Jung said, it is not all garbage, there are some useful qualities in the shadow also. For instance, aggression can be transformed into positive assertiveness.

@Amstermind I don’t understand this idea of integration of the shadow parts and behaviors. It doesn’t make sense to me-doesn’t this mean that I’m accepting these parts and them allowing them to become an active part of me? These are the characteristics I DON’T want. I’m well aware of my shadow side, I hear it talking all the time. I talk back to it and reason with it, I forgive it but it is still dragging me down. I feel like these aspects are running my mind and life now and I am immobile . This is not what I want. I want those aspects of me gone, one way or another. They do not serve me, I cannot allow them to compromise my better self and it’s goals. Can you kindly clarify what happens to these shadow aspects when they are “integrated”. Please and thanks a bunch.

Sirene Taylor Hi! So I’m by no means an expert but from my understanding (tho everyone’s shadow work and spiritual journey is completely different) when you’ve completely integrated and accepted your shadow self it’s easier to control and a lot of the time, if you’ve dealt with the underlying cause of the actual shadow, it can transform into something more positive/light. Your shadow self will forever be there but by accepting it, you give yourself more room to work with it and turn the shadows into light. By accepting it you get a former control over it. Like I said most of the time you need to deal with the underlying causes tho (such as a childhood trauma/repression) our shadows start developing at a very young age so you probably have things that you need to deal with from very early on. A lot of the time, accepting is the first step into letting go. If you want to let go of your shadow self, you must accept it and acknowledge it. These are real feelings that need to be dealt with.

Thanks SO much Amstermind! I’ve been looking for a practical guide to shadow work and this is the best I’ve found online. But one question: like Kadeem below, I’m wondering how to approach making a list of things I find “a shadow around” as you put it. If the shadow contains items/issues/experiences that are repressed and unconscious, how can I grasp them them, pin them down, in order to list them? A bit more on this could be helpful - or am I missing something obvious?

If something scares you or triggers you in some way (makes you feel angry/frustrated/disempowered/small etc), it is usually the easiest way to observe parts of your shadow. The more you observe, the more aspects will naturally surface 🙏🏼 the more we accept, the less we become triggered by things. I hope this helps :)
