I saved this link a couple of years ago and just now made a ring. Didn't have the round wire, but used square 16g copper wire. The paddle ends didn't work so I just swirled them, then proceeded as you show. It came out WOW! Just goes to show a little ingenuity goes a long way when you have such a good design to start with. THANKS!

Great video! How did you oxidize and how do we keep the ring from turning our fingers green? Thank you!
@JewelSchool3 жыл бұрын
Hello! The oxidation process should happen before the beads are wrapped on and you do this by adding a few drops of "liver of sulphur" to a cup filled water (we use a Styrofoam cup and recycle it after use) and then, dropping in your ring. You can let it sit in the solution for a few minutes. Liver of sulphur works best on copper or silver wire. A quick internet search should get you what you need, but be sure to follow the directions so you know how to use it safely! As for keeping your fingers from turning green, we recommend cleaning you jewelry often and try to stick to metals that are non-tarnish like "silver over" or "gold over" a base metal. Parawire makes a great non-tarnish wire for jewelry making. Good luck!

@@JewelSchool Okay, the X-Large Wubbers round pliers are 12mm - 15mm and the Jumbo Wubbers round pliers are 18mm -21mm. So are you using the X-Large pliers?
@shirleykyees84175 жыл бұрын
@Jackie Loos Okay, so here's the thing. I think that they are using the X-Large pliers in the video and I bought the Jumbo pliers. They work pretty well, the only thing is that the end "paddles" seem to wrap around too far around the finger. Does that make any sense? Lol it's like the "paddled ends" seem to wrap almost under my finger instead of laying on top. I could probably just cut less wire? I have found this project quite difficult, especially the "paddle" part. My paddles always seem to come out sharp and pointed and also too long. And I purchased the "wire rounder" as well as the chasing hammer. I guess I just need to keep practicing. Hope this helped! ☺

I've recently started expanding into Rings & am so Excited to make this. 💕 However, as for the Supplies needed for the "Bypass Ring", what size Wire would you recommend or did you use in your Video to add your Embellishment Beads?? I assumed it could be anywhere from 26-28g Wire, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask the Designer (ie. You). 😊 Thank you so much!! 😘😘😘💕💕💕

Hi Erin! Yes, 26-28 would be easiest but definitely depends on the size of the beads you are using to embellish. In the video she uses 26 gauge.

It would be good to see a list of items needed. The bead reamer needs an attachment to make it into a wire rounder which hikes up the price somewhat and the site you recommend for tools just has the chasing hammer which of course is out of stock. Oh dear!

Hi Michelle! This is from Susan: Parawire has a tarnish resistant coating and if you over hammer it the coating will come off. It is really only meant for very light hammering and no texturing. Can you give me more info on the wire rounder please? I looked on Amazon & it showed me a "Bead Reamer" that looked like the tool you used...?
@JewelSchool4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kim! Sure! A bead reamer is actually used to make the holes of a bead slightly larger. A wire rounder is used on the end of wires to help remove jagged edges, making it smoother. Some battery operated bead reamers come with interchangeable head so it serves both purposes. They also come in different sizes for different gauge wire. When looking to buy, make sure you either get a wire rounder or a bead reamer with an interchangeable head (for the wire size, of course!) Hope this helps!
