Yes. I did a test where I sealed a batch in an air-tight bag, and left a few outside the bag. After a month, the fuses exposed to the air would hardly light, and didn't work very well. They can be made useful again by putting back in the oven at about 300-330F for 20 minutes. The ones sealed in the bag were nearly as good as they were when I made them a month prior. Thanks for asking!

Also, the twisted paper towel fuses merely deflagrated when the pressure built up. This means they aren't actually that dangerous, and can be used to propel projectiles, which rely on deflagration to avoid blowing open the barrel and killing the operator.

I tried this on a very thick rope and it didn't work. So I tried it on a thin rope and it was much better, but still, the flame dissapeared after 5 seconds. So I looked on a pyrotehnic forum and I found out how to make the slow-burning fuse faster, better, easier and safer to make (and even without cooking!). And this one really works !!! First, mix 60% of potassium nitrate and 40% of sugar. Then stir well and took a large piece of alu-foil. Cut the alu-foil into 3cm x 10cm rectangles (or more/less, as you wish). Then, just take the spoon and sprinkle the mixture evenly along the rectangle. Then roll the rectangle so your mixture can't go out and make a fuse shape. Then, fold the both edges, so the mixture won't go out. Then, put your fuse around 2 or more centimeters deep into a thing you want to burn with a fuse and cut off the edge where you wish to burn the fuse (when you cut it off, you have to see your mixture inside). Then, just use the lighter on this edge and wait until the fuse burns. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE THAT YOU FIND THIS AS USEFUL !!!

Ok, there is the link of the page where is written, how to make what I translated and how to create other slow burning fuses and even how to make an electrical detonator,...: old.piroraj.org/vzig.html But the link of the main page of the whole pyro site, where is written, how to make many explosives, including some of the most powerful in the world (TNT, RDX), slow burnung fuses, rockets, detonators, bombs, funny chemicals (smile gas, stinky gas), properties of chemicals required, where to get them or how to make them at home, etc. is old.piroraj.org/index.html The whole page is in slovenian, so you probably won' t understeand it as I do, so try to use some online translators and hope for the best results, because this is a very useful site.

Matthew Hansen Well too bad then, also did you know that actual smoke bombs are made from KClO3 not potassium nitrate(KNO3/stump remover). Also if you do live in a country that prohibits selling KNO3 then just order some from eBay.
@RonanMcGrathBuilds8 жыл бұрын
For all the people who need KN03 and cannot get stump remover or it just hard to get: The best way is to go to a fertiliser shop for farming because potassium nitrate is actually used a lot on farms to help grass grow. You should be able to buy a big bag. It will be in small bede form tho, not powdery. So just get a cheap blender and chuck it in there.

Andrew Flem no problem. Cotton burns much better, and I found out by accidentally making fuses from acrylic yard that ended up awful.
@andrewflem53584 жыл бұрын
@@CWGminer same! it's almost depressing when you do things exactly as the dude in the video but still manage to mess it up somehow. also, is it possible to use NaNO^3 (sodium nitrate) instead of KNO^3 (potassium nitrate)?

Thank you very much for now I don't need to buy those overpriced fuses! Also could you make a tutorial on how to make a legendary smoke bomb(smoke bomb that uses candle wax), because it actually acts like a smoke bomb(slow burn and lots of fumes), but the thing is I've found out that only specific candle wax works others(plastic/rubber like) won't. So could you please make one on that? Pwetty pwese? Wit swugar chewy on twop?
thanks for the content, I have one question, I want to put this e-match inside the blastic bottle of petrol, however, I have a little concern about the petrol, may make the match lose or solve in the petrol, is there any way to protect the match inside not air environment?

It's great your family is supportive of this, my Bride isn't very happy when I bring things that "stink" into the house (Hoppes #9 is a great example). When you dry this in your oven at 300 degrees, how does it smell? I'm trying to decide how clandestine this project needs to be.
@MrLittlelawyer10 жыл бұрын
It smells like roasting sugar mainly, if you leave it to long it smells like burning sugar of course. When the fuse burns it smells like burning marshmellows and smoky burning yarn. Mine didn't turn out so well, it burns for a little, then goes out, so its reliable for about a couple inches. I think its how I mixed the yarn, so that it kept certain parts form absorbing as much of the solution. So just saying its not a sure fire first time thing, you may have to try it a few times, and if you are trying to hide it, try to do it outside with other methods of drying it if you can find those. Best of luck to your efforts!

MrLittlelawyer Thanks for the fast response! Roasting sugar smell isn't going to put me in the dog house, that's for sure.

Hello do you think you can dip them in wax to make them last longer and not absorb moisture? Also mine look chunky not smooth like yours am I cooking the mixture too hot? Thanks Grant great video.

Could this be usable for thinner fuse? Also, in the summer (now) it gets to 110+ degrees, do I need to bake these or would a day in the sun do fine? Thanks, love the videos!

Did you just bake these in your regular kitchen oven, or do you have an oven specifically for your projects?
@RegularJ9 жыл бұрын
They work great out of the oven, however, on day two they are inconsistent. Is there something that can be done (I.e. Storage method, mixture ratio, baking time) to increase the shelf life? I have seen you use some in other videos so I am assuming yours stayed viable for some period of time.
