how to make smoked scotch eggs (with runny yolks!)
A twist on the traditional breaded and fried version, these eggs are soft boiled then wrapped in ground beef. They're then smoked to perfection and lacquered with BBQ sauce.
Smoked scotch eggs may not be authentic, but they are a pretty amazing BBQ treat.

Love the tip on the peeling of the eggs, I'll use it on my Ahi Tuna Wasabi Deviled Eggs in the future. Great video and I love the soft boiled egg idea over traditional Scotch Eggs. Great content and editing.

Incredible! Thank you for this! I made these for breakfast yesterday, and they were incredible. I used Jimmy Dean maple sausage. I also smoked a little longer . . . I went an hour, then another 10 minutes with the basting. Probably because of my extra time, the yolks weren't runny . . . but they weren't completely hard, either. And the whole thing was INCREDIBLE!

I make it a point to always order a Scotch Egg whenever I travel internationally. It allows me to sample how people prepare them around the world. Runny yolks seem to be the most traditional and finely ground pork (not sausage) is the most common. Thanks for a new take on an old recipe. Try making some smoked deviled eggs to go with it. They're the bomb-diggity.

The only thing that would improve that would be to plate them with a couple of slices of toasted sourdough bread with butter. Scotch eggs are for sure on my menu to do now. Thanks for sharing your way of cooking them.

Never heard of a hard boiled scotch egg. Sounds hideous with a dry pasty yolk. All the ones Ive seen are soft and runny.
