I just made this yesterday. My mom used to make them and since She was very ill and had not cooked for many years before passing I couldn’t remember how. I got another recipe off of YT and it just used bacon and was done in an hour, it came out ok, but nothing like my moms, I made it because I have been missing her. I’m watching your video and I swear I can smell it, that’s how my mom did it and it cooked all day making the house smell good. I’m going to be making your version real soon!!! Thank you so much!!! This is my favorite meal. ( I always added a large can of stewed tomatoes into the mix- Southern green beans with the bacon was the only way I could get my kids to eat those vegetables.) Because hammocks and bacon make EVERYTHING taste great!!!!

Exactly how I cook mine just like my grandma did (minus the accent) I use to use hammocks but my blood pressure is a bit of a issue. So I use smoked turkey wings. Granny also added just a tiny pinch of baking soda (in her greens too) to hers. She always told me while I was helping her cook that it makes them tender. I sure miss her. But so blessed with the things she taught me.

My Mother in law use to cook her beans with all the seasoning and added potatoes ... cooked them in the beans... cooked the broth down and then smashed the potatoes and added a little olive oil.... yummm ! Your video is the best!!!
