How i make meshes for in-game content and for second life quickly, efficently with detail and fast pace methods using "zbrush, topogun, blender and photoshop.

Will it work with sculptris? I'm a 3d modeler but I suck at poly editing and external programs so I guess I will need help... I don't understand about spheres, textures... I just make virtual claay

thx for the good tutorial. Too bad that everytime I try to make something in blender I have the same problem as when I'm drawing and I can't create what's in my head.

I've been a digital artist, 3D model artist and sculptor, texture artist and animator, using said skills to work with games engines (including Halo CE engine, Source, Unreal 3, Unreal 4 and Unity), for 19 years. 3DS Max, ZBrush, Maya, Blender.. BOOM! I also do a lot of mechanical engineering. REGARDLESS... Second Life always seems to struggle with linked mesh uploads and LODs for said mesh. So this doesn't work if you want your house to have different parts and custom LODs lol.

Any tips for how to find the SL default models to build over, or uh.. like.. how to make fitted/rigged items I suppose? Like you had a little rigged version of your character you were able to test the helmet on -- any guides on that aspect out there? Thanks for this!

Depends on what you are looking to focus on. i do organics, so i use sculpting tools a lot so zbrush is my powerhouse engine for it. but i'll always advise to learn and use "blender3d" its free, its intimidating, but it helps you learn the terminology for certain words in the field to help you if you get stuck know how to ask the question to possibly find an answer quickly. need a playlist, here is my personal i keep adding too, to help me or learn - kzbin.info/aero/PLq37ECLr2UIG5vBaLJ2TMqODbnSOor7Yk

Wish I could do things like that, but I am a mess when I come to things like these. Still, you've got a pretty cool video cause I stayed through the whole thing. Anyways, do you have any tips for music artists? You seem pretty cool, I know this may not be your average comment, still would appreciate your input 🤗

I honestly love a lot of different music artists, like "kavisky, tng enigma, videogame remixes, classical music like bach or Beethoven, avenged sevenfold, slipknot, melanie martinez." and glad you like the video, when doing stuff like this its okay to get side tracked you never have to do everything at once, hell i sometimes dont even finish a project the first couple days, i just move onto something else from time to time, but anyone can do this, just gotta believe in yourself and try to find that style you have that makes it your own.

Z-Remesher gave you way better topology that you went and ruined with decimation. You would have gotten way better results by just manually removing edge loops from the ZRemesh version or setting Z-Remesher to give you a lower-poly model.

I do that method, but the thing with the decimation its self, it lowers the number, keeps the retained detail very well since trianbles are smaller then faces. But you are right, i used to do this, and still do this for things like making a animation in blender or giving people this in a different program, but when it comes to secondlife, the program is tedious and the more manual changes in decimation you do for it, the simpler, quicker it will get things done with out errors in secondlife...atleast this is how its been since i stopped doing the method you suggested does work. Regardless you need to upload things in a collida format and it decimates what you do anyways, why not have full control in zbrush do it yourself and then just upload to secondlife with out error hassle is my thought.

Collada format does not decimate the mesh. You are confusing decimation with triangulation (and the Collada format can handle quads anyway, the SL importer simply triangulates it on upload). Decimation destroys edge flow, any nice edge rings you have are discarded in favor of arbitrary triangles. Triangulation preserves all your edge rings, just each quad face is two triangles (since GPUs draw everything as triangles anyway). You shouldn't be getting errors from your mesh regardless of if you decimate it or not, that's a sign that there is some other error in your workflow. Proper edge flow also allows you to get cleaner UVs that are easier to texture, though if you're painting on the mesh itself that's less important I suppose.

awesome !!!! Lizzy.. is there a way to send you a message? I am really trying to get something done.. Just start learning, and I will really appreciate any help. If you could dedicated few min. I am an mechanical designer, using 3D modelling for my entire life. Just it is industry oriented and I am trying to combine both worlds, I start learning Unity and get excited to create content fo SL, but my models do not work, not compatible, there should be a way... I really hope to be able to get in touch and ask you few things.. I create an account in SL but I cannot find you there (it is TheAllMax) :( Hope to get something back from you , and sorry to write here but this the only idea I got :) Thanks for the great tutorial !!!

Thank you for watching, also to let you know, check out the conversation in the comments with a person named "anthony Flagg" they do make a valid point as well that my method is not a better solution, but a option none the less, but all and all, they do make a valid point using just the z-remesher for a cleaner lowerpoly model to work with in other programs like blender and maya.

Eh, ether one tend to work unless your rigging them to a skeleton, but standard and people who dont have avastar, thats a solution they can use. but do agree if its on a armature, use avastar for rigging and exporting.

I do admit I haven't fully dug into all avastar can do but if you want to do something with selectively hard edges [with the help of the edge split modifier], the avastar blend keeps that sort of detail while default dae doesn't seem to v:

With my method it does because your dae is already decimated through zbrush and by projected the high poly onto the lower one it molds and sculpts the lower one to fit the contours of the higher meshed one. with out that i have to agree big time, but with zbrush and how i do it, i never had a issue with ether of them after what i do.
