How to Make Sublimation Keychains

Ready to make some sublimation keychains? I couldn't decide on just one type so I actually have four options for you. From plastic to acrylic to faux leather and neoprene, you can make keychains with your sublimation printer easily. These keychains make great gifts for anyone on your list or you can just make a few for yourself. Try adding monograms for custom keychains that are personalized to your recipient!

Hi. Is it possible to sublimate this blanks using a sublimation oven? If so, how and which would be the parameters of time and temperature?

how did you print your sublimation? Did you have to measure the circles, and then did you have to cut them yourself?

I measured them then printed the sublimation print to size. You can oversize something with a background a bit as it will not hurt anything.

Im having trouble printing a full page of sublimation print it always has white around the edges not making it edge to edge ,what am i doing wrong?i cant never make it long enough to cover the entire white upper parts even if i make the correct measurements when it prints its not the full size i put ,please help!i have a sawgrass 1000

Sawgrass printers do not print edge to edge. You will always have a margin.

if doing a clear acrylic do I use the same process as the frosted method

The clear acrylic will have to be one okay for sublimation. You can do either from the front or back.

Great video. When you press the frosted acrylic blank does the paper stick to the blank after pressing? I find some paper sticks to the blanks and needs to be removed with water and rubbing it off. When this happens, am I pressing to hot? Should I remove the paper hot or cold? Thank you very much.

This one did not do that. I have experienced that before. Try changing your pressure. I peeled this one hot and didn't have anything that stuck. If it does stick, just allow it to cool this wash away the paper. It usually doesn't harm anything.

When I removed the sub paper from the acrylic after heating and soaking, I have a hazy film on my acrylic. What can I do to fix that? I removed the paper with magic eraser and then wiped with a baby wipe but the foggy film remains. Thank you.

I haven't had any issues with that. Where did you get the acrylic blanks? My fear is you have a bad sublimation coating.

Every time I press and sublimate on neoprene Koozies. The neoprene gets completely flat and squashed. Doesn’t look right. Am I using too much pressure. Can I use minimal pressure. Or should I get a Cricut heat press instead?

My guess would be too much pressure by what you are describing. You can also put a pressing pillow under something like that so it doesn't squash the blank itself.

I am having trouble with sublimation on a 4x6 cast acrylic sheet. The acrylic warps while in the heat press and I don't get an even print. I've tried reducing the temperature and pressure - started at 400 degrees and lowered to 385. Any thoughts on what else to try?

Hello, This video didn't tell me much. I don't see how it needs to be ironed with an iron, and whether the foil needs to be removed, what ink and what paper the pattern is printed on. That should be explained, probably everyone knows how to stick it. I don't understand English and it would be good if I could see how it is sublimated.

Sublimation ink printed on sublimation paper from a sublimation printer. Each blank wioll be different as far as how you make it. I gave some examples in this video.

I did acrylic keychain. I got white paper on keychain and bubbles and warped on keychain.

The process works with a sublimation keychain. Poor quality acrylic blanks or ones that don’t say sublimation can be a huge issue.

Is it possible to apply HTV to any of the blanks, AFTER applying the sublimation?

Hmmmm....interesting idea!! I would probably do the design on my computer and print on my sublimation printer instead of pressing a second time. If you do want to add HTV, try picking one that is a low temperature and low time.

@Angie Holden I haven't invested in a sublimation printer, as of yet. Using a low temp HTV is a good suggestion. I'll have to play around when I get a chance to get back into my craft room, lol.

I haven't had that issue. It may be the leather blanks you are using. You may try a different brand.
