How to Make Sublimation Magnets in Minutes

Sublimation magnets are an easy project that make great gifts or make a whole set for your own refrigerator. Grab your sublimation printer and make magnets for everyone on your list. I have some free food prints you can use or add your own patterns or even photographs to these magnet sublimation blanks. Use the same blanks as I used or look for other magnets to use with your prints!

i did mine with 2 by 2 size i used my auto press 400 degrees at 60 seconds. and when i used my hand press i had med pressure at same pressure and heat temp.

Different brands of magnets will have different time and temperature recommendations.

Those are super cute! Love them! I do have a curiosity question...I have used other MDF blanks with the add on magnet and have found that the magnet tends to peel off the back after usage (moving it from one location to another) and was just wondering if you saw any indication of this with the ones you used.

I was pleasantly surprised that the adhesive seems to be really strong. However, I have not used them that long so it may not last!

The magnet has to have a sublimation coating in order to work.

Hi Angie. I have been watching all of the videos 11 months ago about the Siser DTV. I don’t see a lot of buzz around it anymore. Just thought I get your take on it.

I feel like it is an okay product. It did have some issues with people pressing and wearing immediately. The product will run when wet when you do that. I think that may have affected people purchasing.

I bought the siser dtv to make myself some Mario shirts for our VBS, although they look great and people like them they still have that plastic feel etc when you touch them same as the old iron on from years ago

I bought a PYD life sublimation oven for full mug decoration, and I wonder where else can I use it for. I also have Cricut autopress.. Can I use them for the magnets?

The Autopress would be your best bet for these and would work fine!

Hi Angie, at around 5:44, how did you get the edges of the print to be flush with the edges of the sublimation blank? I would think you might have to trim the overlap (with an exacto or scissors maybe) but it looks like you just kind of popped off the excess with your fingers? 5:47

I didn't make them flush! I overlapped the print slightly in all directions. The time stamps you mentioned I am just removing the sublimation print.

What’s the best way to change the brand of ink? Is it ok to add a different brand of ink on top of another ink already in the eco tank?

The best way is to completely drain and flush the printer before adding new ink. It is not an easy process.

There is not a way to remove sublimation completely.

Not these! They do make sheets you can cut with your Cricut but I haven't seen any that you can both sublimate and cut.

My guess is that it has a protective film on it that you didn't remove.
