Your family getting together to make sujebi and specifically ripping the dough reminded me of a long buried memory from when I was a very young kid. I absolutely loved scrambled eggs but ESPECIALLY when my grampa made them. So, whenever I would stay at my grandparents’ house, in the mornings I would stand on a chair and help my grampa make scrambled eggs. My job was take the cheese slice and rip it into small pieces like you do with sujebi then drop them in the eggs to get all melty. I took this job so seriously and it was such a special bonding time with my grampa. I love these little moments we have with our families. They’re so simple and mundane, but they hold some of the best memories 💛

oooh I just made this with my boyfriend for for dinner with his parents. We used kelp and anchovies to flavor the broth before adding in the veggies, sujebi dough, and egg. It turned out great and I recommend this to anyone who wants a filling, warm stew on a cold and rainy day.

수제비 is such a comfort food for me. My umma made it for me when I was younger so I didn’t know it was this easy!

My mom also makes this! Instead of stretching it, she uses a pair of scissors and cut it into a sort of rugby shape. It makes a really homey meal for a winter afternoon.

The story of the family activity reminds me of a very sweet story I've read. About the perfect soup. There was a boy who comes from a family who runs a soup restaurant. Everyone praises his mother for making the best soup. One day the store went bankrupt because of some economic problems, but the boy still thinks his mother's soup is the best, even if they don't sell it anymore. Every day the family will sit on the dining table and eat soup together. Years went by and the boy grew up and had his own wife and kids. His mother have long since passed because of an illness. He decided to reopen the family restaurant with his mother's recipe. However no matter how precise he was with his mother's recipe it never truly tasted quite right. He thought maybe because his mother never really needed the recipe so he experimented, added more things and less things. But no matter what he did it still didn't taste as good as how his mother made it. He tried experimenting with different styles of soup but it still didn't taste as good. Whenever he has a failed product he would throw it away because in his mind, it's not the 'perfect soup' and giving anything but the exact soup his mom made was not acceptable to him. His wife saw his wasteful behaviour and secretly took the soup before he threw it away and gave it away, hoping that other people's opinions might sway her husband. But even after people say that his soup was delicious, as delicious as his mother's, he still couldn't believe it. "I am my mother's son, I eat my mother's soup daily, I know more about my mother's soup than anyone in the world" His wife saw him like this, then remembered when he told the story how the family would sit together on the dining table and eat soup together, bonding as a family. So when he was about to throw his soup away again, she took it out of his hands and brought it to the middle of the dining table. The man was angry, because it was not the 'perfect soup'. His kids praised him that it's delicious, but he didn't believe them. Until one of his kid fed him the soup and suddenly he felt that the soup is delicious. He tried eating it by himself, and sure enough, the soup that is somehow inadequate before, became very delicious. The secret ingredient to his mother's perfect soup isn't anything in the soup itself, but that they eat the soup as a family. And when he opened his soup restaurant, that became his mission, to encourage people to eat with the people they love, because food taste better with the people you love.

Made it and came out great! Much easier than maangchis recipe and the dough still had a great texture. Definitely would not recommend grating the potatoes though, either use a food processor or probably mashing it thoroughly would be effective! Thank you for the recipe!!
