I couldn't find the vines anywhere, could you please send a link or put a link in the description for where to find some?

Fantastic detail! I also watched the Bayou Swamp Terrain you did, using these trees - the detail you accomplished there is unbelievable. I have family in Louisiana, and that swamp was spot-on! I've done a few dioramas, and I find that felt, soaked in water, then pulled, creates that "stringy" look that Spanish moss has. It also works well for algae, for underwater scenes. Just coat it with glue, once it is pulled. Felt, as itself, doesn't fare well, when wet, so it works great to get that "drippy/stringy" look, when it is pulled. A grey felt, tinted with green works great for the Spanish moss, or does for me. Going to have to check out more of your work. Fantastic!!!

Thank you very much ;) Great tip on the felt, i'll give it a try sometime i'm curious on the outcome now! Cheers

I really like your tree structures here. The dried vine makes a great natural looking base for a tree. I just can't help but think there's a better material for the Spanish moss type plant. What you have looks like some kind of spacey-tree fungus, which isn't a bad thing if you're going for sci-fi jungle. Maybe used dryer sheets like Black Magic Craft used for his spider webs in the spider eggs build might come out looking a little more natural. It's light and stringy as well as thin, so it should keep a more of that structure that is shares with Spanish moss.

Another idea might be gauze. Spanish moss is much more airy looking and gray to white in color. Probably best to look at several high resolution photos of not just Cypress trees, but also oaks in the south with Spanish moss in them. Great video though, and loved your tree armatures. Nice detail work.

Nice! That sounds great i'll have to revisit that moss in future vids. Thanks for your suggestions and ideas, cheers ;)

Living in Florida most of my life I have seen plenty of cypress trees, and this is most likely the best representation of them I've seen. About the only thing you're missing are the knees. Cypress trees have lots of knees. Which are nothing more than rounded wooden spikes that grow all around it. I have no idea why they are there but they are there none the less. (A very minor miss on such a great tree). The one thing that I see even more of than cypress trees is Spanish moss! It grows everywhere! If you stand still to long it would most likely grow on you. That's how bad it is in Florida. Although the color is a bit off (it's a gray), the main thing is that it is much more airy. Drag your hobby knife through your cotton to make more individual strands coming down rather than a single point. Also try to leave open areas in the cotton itself. I hope that helps. Great job!

@Paepercuts7 жыл бұрын
Hey, je kan het mos kopen bij Intratuin en ik zie het ook wel eens bij de Action liggen. Ik geloof dat ik niet meer dan 2 euro heb betaald voor een grote zak dus dat valt mee. Succes!

That was some spooky looking swamp trees really liked the way they turned out. The Spanish Moss in the lower southeastern states has a pale green almost silverish white color to them. I think I would try pulling that batting material in longer more slender pieces and actually try painting with the airbrush. The spots of leaves looked pretty good as even on very dead looking trees they get a parasite type plant that will look very green indeed even as the moss and that plant kill the tree. Someone once told me it was mistletoe but I am not sure if that's what it is. Not sure if done that way they'd look more realistic or not, as your way they still might have that spookier stuck in the bayou feel. Very nicely done sir I have liked this vid and subscribed.

You could check your local hobby/ craftstores and garden-centres near where you live (cotton came from local supermarket). I usually browse their websites to see what they have first. Good luck :)

Yea well at least in mine, i may have an old one :) there's usually some water in the bottom or sides which will make the clay mould for some reason. Cheers!

You should have that looked at. Your fridge should be one of the, if not the, driest places in your home.

Hi, I'm about to use your spanish moss technique for adding river grass (the dark green stuff that always grows on rocks and goes with the flow in rivers), and I was wondering if this would be the right recipe for it to harden properly and not melt in Vallejo water effects (still water etc.) when they get applied a few days later?
@novolizer7 жыл бұрын
Paepercuts I've used the pva/water/paint mixture after all, and so far it looks good, even though I'll be using Vallejo extra heavy gel for the water tomorrow, I wish I could post pics here on yt :)

Having lived in New Orleans, LA your trees look so real. But your Spanish Moss should be a little bit more /silvery/grey, and it needs to be thinner. Kind of stringy. But I am so impressed with how you did these. If you take a piece of cardboard with straight pins side by side poking out the bac side (like a comb teeth) you can sperate your dry cotton into shreds. Thank you.

I hate to beak it to you, bro, but Spanish moss is usually light grey or greyish green even when it's fresh on the tree. You didn't need to paint it for six and a half hours... sorry. But, hey, the tree turned out nice! The roots look really unique.
@Paepercuts7 жыл бұрын
Haha no problem i love honest feedback ;) i could have known to be honest i had bought some real dried spanish moss which i wanted to use, but they are a bit thick and more suited for vines and stuff. And indeed, it's greyish green ;) Thanks again!

Hi, Intratuin are garden centres in the Netherlands and i buy them locally. These natural branches are difficult to find online because in many countries customs will not accept them. You may want to check your local garden centre/ florist- bouquet maker they often have them. Cheers.

These look amazing. One question: Could you have skipped adding the green ink to the mixture applied to the spanish moss cotton before priming them? or did that add to the final look? Thanks.
@Paepercuts4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I add it as a sort of layer of security. If some paint would chip off at some point, you'd be looking at white cotton underneath. Not necessary of course, just what i prefer. Cheers!

Thanks! Succes!
