For brown sugar which is expensive for small packet, I put 200g granulated sugar in a bowl, add I tablespoon of treacle or molasses a few seconds in the microwave then rub the mixture together, hey presto brown sugar. I got the recipe from a lady on her Instagram account.

In the US, we don't have a variety of dried grapes or in my area we don't. My store only has raisins but know before the lock downs we had golden raisins but lots of items have not come back on the shelves and many brands have eliminated many of their products. I searched online at a big city grocery store with no luck and the only thing under mince meat was canned dog food. I recall years ago seeing a small jar of mince meat but all I could find today are jars in the $50 range, LOL. Oh well, y'all enjoy.

I’m not sure if you have access to any Asian or international stores, but they will probably have some dried fruit. I also used all the weird and wonderful dried fruits in my pantry such as dried cranberries, blueberries, prunes, date, cherries, ginger, even dried mulberries from Iran! It was perfectly acceptable. Also it’s easy to make candied orange/lemon peel to use. Hope this helps!

@@BakingOnABudget There probably is more variety but just not in our area of Texas. I finally gave up on the local chain store that hadn't had canned beans or fresh cauliflower in years and I couldn't complete a half a grocery list of 30 basic staples. We now drive 4 towns away to shop but not complaining.
