INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup thai tea leaves (serves 4)
4 cups boiling hot water
1/2 cup sugar
condensed milk to taste (can also use half & half, coconut milk, almond milk or whole milk)
DIRECTIONS
steep tea leaves in a tea bag/mesh strainer in hot water for at least 30 minutes, remove tea bag, add sugar, and let it cool for 1 hour (the more concentrated the tea flavor, the better the thai tea tastes).
strain tea leaves, reserving liquid.
serve over ice and add milk to taste.
NOTES
thai tea can be prepared up to a week in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks (if it even makes it that long =p).
milk can be added directly to the pitcher so that it is ready to be served. if i am serving this at a party, i typically like to keep the milk out so guests can add their own :).

Original Thai iced tea is made with condensed & evaporated milk! And not mixed. The evaporated milk goes in at last as topping.

I am so lucky to live so close to a Thai resturant that only charges $1.29 for a glass of iced Thai tea with refills. The most expensive dishes are $8.95 to $12.95 but the majority of dishes are between $5.95 & $6.95 with huge portions. Ive been to upscale thai resturants where the prices are very expensive and come nowhere close to my local Thai Hut resturant.

If you add evaporated milk, it adds a slight creamy texture to it which is nice. I add the condensed milk while it's still hot to ensure it isn't settling on the bottom. Also, condensed milk is already very sweet so adding granulated sugar isn't needed.

@@HouseofXTia Might not be for a while, sadly. 200k farang are stuck there, many are now broke as some save all year to go. I would rather be there than in the US. Sa wad dee pi mai Don't you find it odd that the new year is the same time as Christianity with the death and resurrection of Christ? New Years is 3 days long in Lao and Thailand. Christ died and resurrected after 3 days to celebrate NEW beginnings. NEW Year=New beginning. In Thai and Lao they say, Pee Mai=New Year. Pee (pi) has two meanings. Spirit (ghost) and year. Christianity and jesus=Holy Ghost. Today it is customary to give offerings to dead ancestors over there by "washing of the bones" of the dead on this day, "family day". Holy Water is an offering to Jesus and to the people during Easter. There is historic record of a Jesus of Nazarath having studied at a Buddhist Temple. My thought? Jesus was Buddhist monk and the story was re told upon his return to Jerusalem. His teachings and practices are the same as Buddhism.....for the most part. Christains use a rosary to count prayers just as Buddhists us beads to count Namo ta Sa etc. The Temple with the records of Jesus was a temple of the Lersi Monks...the ones that practice the ancient lessons of magic like......being able to walk on water and perform miracles. Things that make you go hmmmm Wow, I digress

Hi, House of X Tia, I really enjoyed your video, and how simple you kept things. I was debating whether or not to order the tea until you had mentioned that it costs around $5 for the bag and that you could make gallons (2). I continued to look for a better deal, and found it on Amazon. Thank you. I believe your measurements are going to come out perfect. If you are looking for a strainer, I found mine on eBay: (3" Thai Traditional Filter Sock Cloth Tea Coffee Strainer Handle Reusable Large for $3.99). Thanks again, Karen Lea Frost

your welcome and thanks for the strainer rec! you can experiment w/milk options, some places use half and half, some use regular milk, when I want to make a lighter version, I'll use almond milk with stevia or a natural sweetener :). Enjoy!

How do I make it into a full gallon container? Like I see you strained the Thai leaves for like 1-2 servings and added the milk when serving. Can I make like a gallon of this tea and add milk to it after cooled down and store it? Just like the restaurants I’ve been to? 🤔 basically like kool aid lol, mix it all together as a whole gallon and store it for dinner time for a few days

Hi!! This is a favorite of mine and the Pantai is delicious! Yes the dye can get on your counter top so make preperations to avoid that orange stain! I bought a tea sock on Amazon but what she uses is also a great idea! I use coconut milk in mine to cut calories but you can use almond or coconut milk or make the origonal recipe which is great!! Its fun to make the boba pearls for a delicious bubble tea yum!! You can buy boba tapioca pearls that you boil for only 5 or 6 minutes but i like the consistency of the kind that you boil 30 minutes because they stay soft much longer than the quick cooking boba. Im fixing to order me a bag because i have a craving for that vanilla smoky yummy Thai tea!! 😄

Why did you add sugar and condensed milk? Why don't you just add one of them? And condensed milk tastes better
@HouseofXTia
@HouseofXTia 7 жыл бұрын
condensed milk on its own wouldn't be sweet enough but i suppose if you like your tea less sweet, you can omit the sugar :)

Isn't condensed milk sweet, like a sweetener? Isn't it as sweet as sugar?
@HouseofXTia
@HouseofXTia 7 жыл бұрын
it is like a sweetener. the condensed milk is sort of used as a creamer but if you don't want to use it, you can use milk half and half, whatever you want! enjoy!!
