I could watch this kind of tech all day, the winding machine is absolutely beautiful with this precision servo motors and the syncronization involved is magnificent...!! Great video, ...!!!

This video was a big source of inspiration to me when I decided to design and build my own automatic winding machine. I used parts from an old wire EDM machine and an Arduino for the control system.

Great video! What kind of material do you use for insulation? It looks like insulating varnish and strips of mylar-paper foil. Am I right?

Great looking profi like machine there! See the tension is spring controlled, how do you cope with very thin winding wire, change the spring?
Awesome. I am new to this. In regard to the wire positioning guide, does it advance by a setting you input or does it sense the wire thickness and advance based on that thickness?

You can make a transformer for 6.3, 12.6 and 27 Volts A/C, or 4.45 ,8.9 and 19.09 Volts A/C if you want to RECTIFY IT TO D/C.This is one of the most perfect projects are made.I made a sound transformer for my tube amplifier and I made 900 turns,I was tired after that.You can also make step up transformer for the plates, super cool.Excellent robotic system.

Hey! That is a great machine - probably the most neat DIY winder I've seen on the net! I'm about to build me one, so I kinda surfed for the ideas. Can you please explain me what does this gadget do? - it is right in the middle of the machine on rails and it seems to be some kind of a tension cushion for the wire because you wind it on a square carcass. How is it controlled? Thanks very much for any information! Cheers!
@OktoPutsch8 жыл бұрын
(What's the purpose of the middle sliding part ? i'm not sure if it's made to keep the tension constant and in sync with the shape variations from the square roll during the winding )
@KallePihlajasaari6 жыл бұрын
It forms part of the tension control feedback and fast tension control. It is spring loaded at some selected point (sometimes we see the operator move it by hand) and then there is an optical encoder pick-up on the near side and a slotted code strip (spring tensioned) like those we find in a contemporary desktop ink jet printer. The tension servo motor aims to maintain the slider at the desired position by controlling the spool torque and feeds or rewinds as required. The generous stroke length lets it absorb the wire take up variations due to the non circular nature of the bobbin but still keeping the average tension as close to the set value as possible. The large diameter idlers cause minimal bending and so less resistance until the last idler on the cross sled that is used to flex the wire a bit more to take out any natural curl before it is laid on the bobbin. Thin wires like this machine uses do not need a formal wire straightener as the copper is soft enough to stay in place.

This is really nice. The only thing missing is paper feed, cutter, etc. I know, I know, overkill. Really good work. Are you using a micro in between or is the control happening on the computer? I think an Arduino could handle this and the computer could supervise. That way if program crashes or reboot it still runs okay.
